I'm fond of Ducktales in general. I have all the DVDs.
However, I'll bet I'm one of the few few people in my generation (I'm 29) that was already reading Barks stories long before Ducktales hit the airwaves. :)
I love both though. I see no need to judge them against each other as harshly as I see some people do. I have my preferences, sure (tend to lean towards comic versions on both characters and stories), but I can enjoy DT for what it is just fine.

I like just about all the characters in Duck Tales expect for the villians of course. My favorite character is Scrooge McDuck though.

I never cared for Bubba, Launchpad or really even the Beagle Boys...Mrs. Beakley was a weak additive as well, but I understand there was a need for a reason for Webby being there. Gyro kind of bored me as well. I always wanted more Donald in the show.....Magica and Glomgold were great. The boys and Webby were good too. Duckworth was even a nice character putting a solidified person in place of Scrooge's random assistants that were featured in the comics...I always liked Fenton and Gizmo Duck. The show always surprised me with the lackluster or helpless police force of Duckburg. They were useless in the show. The one thing I enjoyed the most though, was the animation and music that accompanied the show. It was better IMO than many other shows that were on at the time. Flawless.

It's a different adaptation than the comics, but I like both for different reasons.
Ducktales was obviously softened for television and for the times. I thought the stories were generally very well done and the animation was top notch. The show probably jumped the shark with Bubba Duck, but overall I consider it a television animation classic.
Many of the comics, especially Carl Barks' work, are top notch. I think you could make an argument that sometimes Scrooge is a little too harsh of a character (especially under Don Rosa, but that's another discussion for another time).
Comparing the two is like comparing Batman The Animated Series to its comic brethren. They both have their own take and their own merits.
I don't see the need to tear down one in order to build up the other.

You're right Mustang Rockstar. Disney Ducks are Disney Ducks no matter what medium they're in they are still enjoyable no matter what.
