Quote from user: Robb_KVicar had a large staff of helpers in his studio. Some stories only had Vicar storyboards and the penciling and inking was done by others. Many other stories had Vicar doing the pencils, and his inkers inking. Some stories (especially early in his career), he performed all functions. The more steps completed by Vicar, the more I tend to like the artwork.
I did not know this; thanks, Robb!
It would be interesting to have such details concerning the stories bearing his name, as well as for Jaime Diaz, (and the Guthenbergus group, of course, ).

Unfortunately, Egmont/Gutenberghus has chosen to not list any of Vicar's helpers (inkers/pencilers), nor any of Branca's inkers. Vicar's and Branca's names stand for their studio, only (NOT for their work as an individual. Although, at the beginning of his time with Gutenberghus, I believe that Vicar performed ALL functions (storyboard, pencils, inking).

Quote from user: Robb_KI'd be very surprised if Vicar, himself, wrote more than a few stories. I didn't know that he wrote ANY.
According to the Inducks, he's written a whopping TWO (D 8594 and D 97044).
I've seen the credits in Egmont's records, so I'm dead certain these two credits are accurate. Whether Vicar has also, perhaps written others that Inducks missed, I'm not sure; Egmont's master list of 1970s writers' credits got lost many years ago and was later reconstructed from surviving payment receipts, leaving occasional gaps.

that's all he's written? Huh. For some reason I expected more than that. The same goes for Daniel Branca who's only written a tiny handful himself.
I've always had a fondness and perhaps slight preference for artists who write their own stories and do them well. Something about that really makes me happy, in part because it's something that was done exclusively in the old days and I have a lot of respect for anyone who can do such a wide breadth of work. It shows amazing talent IMO. (Imagine if Carl Barks were not allowed to write his own stories. :()
I'd be very interested in seeing more of Noel Van Horn's own written work in the states to see what he can do. I've often heard his own stories are usually much better than those he tends to draw for other writers and I think I can kind of see that given his eclectic visual style.
