The other day I came across a Pressed Penny machine at Magic Kingdom with a Scrooge design! There are many of these penny machines all over the parks and resorts at Walt Disney World, but this is the first time I saw one with Scrooge. I have not seen any other Scrooge merchandise in the parks.

This website lists 1,276 different Disney World pennies, and they have just one for Scrooge: http://www.presscoins.com/search/?availability=All&locations=All&search=Scrooge so this is the only one.

Because Uncle Scrooge isn't very popular in the United States there's not much merchandise to be found. In one way, though, it also makes the hunt more fun and rewarding. When I went to the FCBD no one hardly even wanted the Barks stories with the Spanish Main cover which was what I wanted mostly. The last comic store I went to that day told me to, "Go ahead and take as many as you want of those." I kind of enjoy having a little hobby that's out of the mainstream public.

One of my favorite characters is Gyro's Helper. Other than the actual stories I have 3 good figures of him. I have the Polistil car with Gyro and him, a small individual figure of Helper and one of Gyro made in France by a company named JIM, and the Dark Horse Scrooge Series 1 figure of Gyro holding Helper. I also have a super duper convention drawing Don Rosa did for me of Gyro and Helper. That was sure a fun day!

I wish they had made the hands the way Carl Barks' drew him with just the two fingers. Still pretty cool, though, and not something you run into very often.

When many items from Carl Barks' estate were being sold on eBay there was a little Helper for sale. It really looked sharp and my guess is a fan had made it for him. I kick myself for not buying it and wish I had at least saved a picture of it. There's so few good Helper's out there to find that to me he's especially fun to collect and you know you won't be spending too much money buying hundred's of them.

Patrick, I don't know whether you've tried any European eBay sites for Helper figures. For instance, on eBay.de (German) you'd put in "Helferlein" or "Dusentrieb ["u" with an umlaut]" (you can get the right names from INDUCKS' character page)...and find, for instance, this:

(That should come up as a Gyro-with-helper figure.) You do have to find someone who is willing to ship to you in the USA, of course. This one does list shipping cost to the US (that's why I chose this one, rather than other instances of the same toy), but sometimes someone who doesn't do so will still ship to you in the US if you email them and request it.
On eBay.fr you can't search for Helper's name, because the French name for Helper is Filament, too generic a word! You have to start with Geo Trouvetou, Gyro's name.

You're welcome, Patrick! Glad to be able to return the favor, after you put me onto the Scrooge limos. I've been using eBay.de and eBay.fr a lot this last year, buying comics to feed my habit while I hope for a new American publisher. Thank goodness for INDUCKS, which makes it possible to identify and track down stories I'd like to read! I've had an almost universally positive experience in buying Disney comics internationally. Hope it goes as well for you, buying Helper figures or whatever.... While I can read French (fluently) and German (haltingly), I can't write in either language very well. But I've found that GoogleTranslate, while it may not do so well at translating a block of dialogue from a duck story, does just fine with sentences like "please invoice me with the shipping cost included."
Oh, and I went to a second Toys R Us store this weekend, which still had the mini-cars without figures in them, for 99 cents, as you said. Got three of the Donald cars with the "313" license plates, for stocking stuffers next Christmas!

Aww man, I wish there was a Toy 'R Us near me, I would definitely buy one of those cars.

And his only $0.50! Problem being you need to buy 1000 of him. Yeesh, I only need one haha. Besides, he doesn't have the expression to put them all in some sort of epic army scene on a shelf or something.
