It seems there is a new version of the Digicomics app :
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id422295758?mt=8#
The release date says "Jun 21, 2011" (although still says version 1.0) and some users are complaining they can't get back the previous titles they bought.
I haven't got an Iphone/Ipad, but does someone have and could tell us the list of comics that are available on it? Are there really new titles?
I'm very disappointed to see they still haven't included the Disney Afternoon titles there.

There are just a few comics for sale at the moment:
Toy Story
Cars 2
Tangled
Donald Duck as Superduck
Mickey Mouse Wizard
Ultraheros
X-Mickey
No classics at all. There are a few 1st chapters for free, but I can't download them. Version 1.0 seems to have some bugs ;)

I will try that later. I can't download any comic right now. It says "verification failed". Perhaps there is an IP barrier for non-US IP addresses? I hope not.

Unfortunately, the app is totally *not* usable in its current form and absolutely no improvement over the original Digicomics app. Restoring purchases from the old app doesn't work, there's still no search feature, but you can't even browse all comics available, just the most recent ones, the top 25 and featured ones. Where's the sense in that?
Maybe this wasn't supposed to be released yet? Their website (www.disneydigicomics.com) doesn't work at the moment.

Mmm, I wonder if the pixar stuff are the comics that Boom released.
The selection isn't very attractive (and very short), for now.
They could do SO MUCH with digital content...For now, it's a big EPIC FAIL. How can you release a new app like that without a search engine, a new version number, an official announcement, the impossibility for people to get the things they ALREADY bought, and the most important, GOOD , VAST and VARIED content?
How can you have an official website down with error messages like this?
They totally don't care (or allocated a ridiculous budget to this project). And then they'll complain "digital comics is not profitable". Pfff...

This is getting ridiculous ... they now have version 1.1 out which is said to restore previous purchases ...
Quote:Are you a Disney Digicomics 1.0 user?
Don??t worry! Comics previously purchased in Disney Digicomics 1.0 can be downloaded again for free if: You still have Disney Digicomics 1.0 installed on device. You??re using the same device on which you initially purchased the comics in Disney Digicomics 1.0.
This obviously isn't supposed to work with the "restore purchases" function, because this one says:
Quote:Purchase History: In this section you can find your comics purchase history as well as your free comics downloads. Click on ??Restore Purchase? button to re-download for free all the comics you previously purchased with your account in the new Disney Comics app on any iOS device you own (iPod, iPad, or iPod touch), or after reinstalling the application.
Ok, so they're saying you need to find every story again in the store and manually re-download it?
Problem 1: How the heck are you supposed to find the stories if they have absolutely NO search function of any kind and not even a feature to browse through stories by character, theme, A-Z, or whatever. You can only click on "featured", where there's nothing to see but ad buttons for Tangled, "Top 25" and "New", with the latter one showing not much else than the "Top 25" tab.
Problem 2: Well, I finally found a "Superduck" story I had previously purchased on the Digicomics app. But... It doesn't work. When you click on the buy button you don't get a message telling you that you've already bought the story and can download it again, but you're billed the full price listed.
And that's what they've worked on for over a year?

I have my iPad at home, but I remember that you see a list of your purchased comics at the settings screen. There it must be the 2nd or 3rd button on the left. At the end of the list is a button "reload" or "download again". I will try that at home tonight.

Sure, you can click on the restore button. But that didn't work either, and it's supposedly (as I was quoting above) only working for comics bought in the new app anyway.

Wow, neat. Can you give us some idea of the selection of classic comics available? The picture in itunes indicates that there are some Italian stories available in English for the first time, but not having any compatible hardware, I can't check the extent of this.
I have to admit, in spite of my devotion to paper comics, this does sorta kinda make me want an ipad. Any idea how one would go about capturing images from one of these stories from an ipad, for blogging purposes? Or whether that would even be possible? Somehow, the idea of just sticking the whole thing in a scanner seems highly dubious. :)

Hahaha, Geo that's very good possible! You (no, not you, but the iPad-people) can just click on the two buttons at the same time to make a screen picture.
