I just read the 2nd Darkwing Duck TPB. It's really great work by James Silvani (Art) and Ian Brill (Story). The 3rd book should arrive at my home this week (Amazon just put it at stock). Can't wait to get it.
Will the 4th one contain the crossover story with Duck Tales? Amazon scheduled it at April 3, 2012. That must be wrong?

The 4th trade is the Campaign Carnage arc. That should be available in comic shops in november. The fifth trade is the crossover which should be published shortly after that. Probably before the end of the year. I would recommend ordering that from a comic shop sooner than later since I think that one is only being printed to order.
Both are available at Things From Another World

Thank you!
So ordering the 5th book at Amazon could end in not getting it? I will have a look at that shop and their shipping costs to Europe.

After reading the cliffhanger at the end of Darkwing Duck #16, I'm really excited about the crossover. (The cliffhanger at the end of DuckTales #4 did nothing for me... Spector couldn't even get the name of the crossover arc right).

This seems to be the 5th and last TPB: http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=Darkwing+Duck+Ducktales+D_1159223
I hope to get it in New York end of November.

Print on demand? Huh.

Wow, I'm not the least bit surprised. That's been the growing "have our cake and eat it, too" trend with a ton of both companies and artists for around the last decade or so: it's seen as a guarantee on releasing something without losing any profit (witness the "Disney Digicomics" app).
But as long as it convinces them to release it and it's still top quality, I'm not complaining. ;)

This makes it difficult for Europeans to get the book. And I can't see any reason for that. Are the sales of book 1 to 3 so bad?
Update: I preordered issue #4 and #5 at www.tfaw.com today :) One of the few shops taking pre-orders for the 5th book. And shipping costs are not to high with $7 per shipment.

Wow, that's ridiculous. You'd think they'd want to at least make certain that European readers can get it no matter what method they decide on, especially considering the audience size there.

Warner Bros. has been releasing some of their classic cartoon series via on demand DVD:

I wish Disney would take the same approach with some of the Disney Afternoon shows. At least the diehard fans can get legitimate copies, even if they wouldn't sell well at retail.
Interesting that Boom! is going POD for some projects -- this hot on the heels of launching a Kickstarter program to fund an upcoming graphic novel. :-/

Please don't confuse print on demand with this "print on order" that BOOM! is doing here. POD is designed to keep niche titles available over a long period of time. There is no set number of books (no edition) printed in advance, but all books are digitally printed when they are ordered by a store (or by a customer via a store).
What BOOM! is doing here is to collect preorders and print ONE single edition with exactly the numbers of the preorders that came in. It's actually not much different from regular comic distribution in the US (if I understand the "previews" system right), only that there won't be a second (or any further) edition after that initial print run. This is *not* what POD is about. (And I think they'll still use standard offset printing instead of the digital print method POD uses.)

(nods) I didn't realize that. Please excuse me. :)

I see the difference and that makes it even worst. If BOOM would do print on demand you could get the book also later. Using one time print on demand means you need to find a shop with pre-order possibility to get the book. If you miss the pre-order timeframe you will end up with no book at all.
