So you're saying that Marvel will publish Disney Comics again if Boom Studios goes out of business? I can imagine them doing the modern Disney characters but not the classic ones. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

If Boom goes out of business or their license for the classic characters expires (they renew every few years... not sure how long each term is) then yes, Disney could decide that it wants Marvel to handle its books.

Now, another option here would be that Disney buy out Boom too and make them a studio within Marvel that just handles Disney material, or hires Mark Waid (a long time Marvel writer) to head up a new Disney Comics division within Marvel.

Don't know. No one from Boom is talking about it. So who knows...?

You're right. Anything is possible at this point.

Now Spiderman is Mickey Mouse's brother. I'm really wanna know how it would be the Spiderman made by Disney? In my opinion, Disney's movies always touchy. Would it be a touchy Spiderman movie or not?

Marvel comics editor talks about Disney deal

Yesterday Marvel Entertainment filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission the text of an interview with Marvel Comic Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada that appeared on comicbookresources.com. He doesn't say much about the theme parks side of the business, but he does shed some light on how he came to find out about Disney's proposal and his reaction.

From the interview:

Joe Quesada: A small group of us on the creative side were approached by Ike about the idea of a merger almost a month ago. We were told that Bob Iger and the team at Disney wanted to meet with us. It was a small group which also included Dan Buckley and Kevin Feige. On the Marvel end of things, we were asked to go and see if we felt that this was a merger that would be beneficial to Marvel in all areas, especially creatively. Personally, I was more than floored and incredibly flattered to have been invited, and meeting the gang at Disney was a thrill. I was incredibly impressed with everyone we met, all of them amazingly sharp and all had as much a love of Disney as we had of Marvel.

Kiel Phegley: On the flip side, there are a lot of Disney properties out there that have existed within the comics space and even some that haven?t but could. To start with the former, do you have any comment on how Marvel may start to interact with characters in the classic Disney bunch like Mickey, Donald and Uncle Scrooge, or with companies publishing under the Disney banner from BOOM! to Kingdom Comics?

Joe Quesada: I?ll give you this, Phegley, you are persistent, but the truth is, I honestly don?t know the answer as this hasn?t been discussed.

Whole thing here:

I sure hope that Disney would have more Duck Avenger Comics come to the states!

There is a crossover with Super Goof and The Duck Avenger in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #699 and it continues in some issues although I'm not sure how many parts it has.

Judging by the cover we've seen, that story is part of the Ultraheroes subseries -- which then means the story's a team-up, not a crossover. Assuming BOOM use the first Ultraheroes story, that particular story will run for 240 pages (unless BOOM shorten it, of course).
Roger North
240 pages? Every issue has 24 pages so it will probably be 10 parts long.

Wouldn't that mean that it starts on the front page of #699 and continues without stops to the back page of issue #708?

As far as I know, there are 22 pages of comics in BOOM's Pixar and Muppet comic books. If the same is going to be true of their Disney Standard Characters comic books, the first Ultraheroes story would more likely be 11 parts. Unless they shorten it.
Roger North
That is a pretty long story. I wish they would have made it in the form of a TPB and save the regular comics for shorter stories. 11 parts is pretty long. That's one less chapter than The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (Not Counting Ancillary Chapters)

I was at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure here in Orlando the other day and they have a large area dedicated to the Marvel characters. Apparently Universal has exclusive rights to use the characters in their theme park for as long as Universal continues to operate the Marvel area, so I guess that Disney's acquisition of Marvel does not affect this.
But what I found ironic was that they have a large comic shop inside the theme park with lots and lots of Marvel comics. The picture below is just a small part of the shop. So whereas Disney comics are rarely found in the Disney theme parks, these Marvel comics, which are now owned by Disney, are actually prominently displayed inside Universal Studios. :/

Wow! Besides selling them at all, the display is also great.
