Here is a small summary of the story, illustrated by a few pictures of panels from the story.
The story tells that Scrooge's young and unmarried parents have moved to the Klondike. Not to search for gold, but to open a store with prospecting gear. Scrooge's father (who is just called 'Dagobert' in Dutch, just like Scrooge himself--let me just call him Scrooge senior) has a very sly way of earning his money: he trains the sled dogs to return to his shop some time after they're sold. He then quickly gives them a make-over and sells the exact same dogs to someone else, and it starts all over again. Scrooge senior earns a lot of money with this, which keeps his in an iron stove in his house (maybe an idea for a pre-money bin?). One day, his girlfriend (called Downy in Dutch) remembers him that it's their anniversary--they've been together for 20 years. After a disagreement about who's finally going to pay the marriage-fee, Scrooge's mother decides to pay.

Dialogue:
Scrooge senior: So what?
Downy: So...(sigh!-ouch!-poor me!) So I will pay that dollar!
And then, there's this part about Scrooge's father having a happy life and all, and then some random guy enters his store, reminding Scrooge senior of a conflict between their fathers. Eventually, the guy ends up chasing Scrooge senior on a sled on the icy and snowy mountains. The guy falls and rolls into a huge snowball (very Disney-like), which hits Scrooge senior as well. And so, both of them end up in the hospital (literally--they fall through its roof). Scrooge has a fat, ugly nurse, while the other guy has a beautiful nurse, with whom he falls in love and later has a son: John D. Rockerduck.

Nurse: Your medicine, sir!
Scrooge senior: Bah! As bitter as poison!
Other nurse (Rockerduck's future mother): Your medicine, sir!
Rockerduck senoir: -Slurp!- As sweet as honey!
The two of them recover, and teh story continues where they have their children (Scrooge and John D. Rockerduck), who already didn't like each other when they were babies.

This is my favourite panel of the story; Scrooge's parents being proud of their first son. Just look how they gave baby Scrooge whiskers and glasses :D.
And for those of you who want to read more about the characters form the story, here are a few pages about them on the PaperPedia Wiki (in Italian, of course):

On this cover of the story, the chase between Rockerduck's father and Scrooge's father is represented: http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=IC+TL++756
Scrooge's father also appeared on the family tree poster that Carpi made to illustrate the series:

(He's the one wearing a cap, at the very top of the page).

So in this story it was Scrooge's parents who were in the Yukon, not Scrooge himself? Interesting. Perhaps an attempt at introducing a sliding timescale like Marvel and DC have?
Sirtao
By the way, the Italian names of Scrooge's parents are Paperon-pap (translatable as "Daddy-Scrooge") and Oretta Paporetta(note: Oro means Gold. Basically translatable as Goldy Golducky)
Rockerduck's father is in this story called Pykerdock. Please note: often in the Italian stories, this included, "Rockerduck" is used as name, not surname. I honestly don't remember the last time Rockerduck got his name printed in an Italian comic. Rockerduck's mother is Pykerdock's unnamed nurse.
I love the story, but really HATE how it throw to hell everything meta-textual in Scrooge and Rockerduck's rivalry(stingy old self-made man with old money VS young New Rich with no problem in using or even wasting money)

back on topic, Hole-hand McDuck's Italian name is Papirone De Paperoni("Paprione" literally means "Big Parchment").
"Spendthrift" is only his nickname, though I suppose it might work as a name in a translation.

I once read somewhere that Martina chose the year of 1897, as that would give Uncle Scrooge a plausible age (73) in 1970, the year that the story was published. I think a sliding timescale in the Duck-universe would be pretty interesting indeed. Scrooge would then have been born in the 1930s-1940s or so, which could allow writers to use the young Scrooge in a different way. Of course, this would also mean that Barks-classics like 'Back to the Klondike' wouldn't make sense now.

Disney comics are made for mass audiences, NOT ancient collectors. The characters should be considered the age they are portrayed in the comic story on the date of that particular magazine's release. Scrooge should be in his 70s in any new comic book in 1947 or 2014. The kids in Hungary in 2014 see him using a mobile phone or a computer in an Italian, Dutch or Egmont-produced story don't want to think that the story is taking place in USA in 1947.

That story about following all the McDucks through the years sounds kind of familiar, actually. By any chance was there also a story about Scrooge's great-grandfather "Wasteful" McDuck, who was in the 1849 gold rush and who was antagonized by Rockerduck's granddad? Because I've heard of that one.
EDIT: Looked it up. Wasteful is from a later story by the same writer, though not officially part of the "Duck Dynasty" collection.

Does anybody here happen to have (or know where to find) a scan of Scrooge's twin brother from that Italian comic? I want to include him in a picture collage I'm making, but I've been having some trouble finding a clear scan of him on the web.

Do you mean: from this http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL++756-A story? Or this http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+AO+55034-A one?
'Cause I have them both, but I haven't a scanner! I can take a photo.

That's awesome! Very nicely drawn and good quality lines and colour. Did you draw it by hand or using a drawing tablet or so?

I mean the second story you mentioned there; I've got the other story myself. I've been searching for a copy of Paperino e l'uomo del West for years, but, like Mickey said, it's a very rare comic. It would be very nice indeed if you could take a picture of Scrooge's twin in that story! :D

Thank you, The Rhyming Man!! :D Now, could you tell about the story he appears in? Do Donald and the nephews know who Papirone is? How does Donald find out that Papirone is Scrooge's twin brother? Do Scrooge and his twin interact in the story?
And thanks for the corrected version, Mickey :)

Ehm, so...
Uncle Scrooge ask Donald and nephews to go on holiday in Gold City, near Gold River, in Texas. He gives them 50$ for the trip.
In Gold City Scrooge is known as a benefactor: he made roads and aqueducts, schools and hospitals, and he's known as "Mani Buche".
So, Donald and HDL go to Scrooge, who initially don't recognize them.
Scrooge then says he doesn't go to Duckburg from 20 years.
Donald, so, says it isn't possible, so Scrooge says he's a twin of Scrooge McDuck from Duckburg, and he has seen Donald only a time, when DD was only few months old, from then he gives away his gold mines. He had 744 mines, but he gave away all of them, and the 50$ for Donald's trip were his last money!
Then, this "Scrooge" smells gold, and he finds 20 millions dollars in gold. Donald is very exited, but Scrooge wants to get the mining concession before use the gold.
Scrooge2 (I'll name him so because now there's also the real Scrooge) get the mining concession, but he give it to the town, so Donald calls the real Scrooge, because "he's the only man who can stop that madman".
There, bandits capture Scrooge and they oblige him to pay 1'000'000$ for redemption.
So, in the end, HDL are very happy because Scrooge2 gave them a 20-year subscription to icecream, but Scrooge is crazy with Donald because "he stole a million from him"!
