I guess it doesn't surprise me. But the story also proves my point: the Disney company considers the idea far too radioactive to actually utilize or even acknowledge to the American audience. Can you see the self-declared guardians of moralitys' heads exploding to learn that a beloved Disney character and 80's cartoon icon had a love child? I can understand why Disney'd want to avoid that potential crapstorm.

Dickie Duck isn't banned anywhere. The only reason she has (almost) never been seen in the US is because no American publisher has ever gotten around to printing stories with her.
There were several other Scrooge writers than Barks and Romano (not Romana) Scarpa in the 1940s and 1950s.
Scarpa never claimed Barks had approved any of his stories.

But she seems to be very rare outside of Italy and Brazil, which might have given her an air of mystique. And she is Goldie's granddaughter (even though she's been called her niece instead in English), and since Goldie is Scrooge's old girlfriend, it can't have been such a stretch for some people to assume, that he's Dickie's grandfather.
Edit: Someone mentioned Dickie making an appearance in "Around the world on eight bucks", and I have that story, so I have read one story about Dickie! Yeah, I did think she looked like the girl in that story. Something about Dickie kept reminding me of her. And now I know why. It actually was her! :D I fortunately had the book containing that very story in the closet next to my computer, so needless to say, I quickly looked it up now, and while it's clear, that Donald and Scrooge know her, we don't get to know how they know her. She doesn't call Scrooge "grandpa" though.

According to Eelkat on BCDB, Scrooge didn't know about his daughter's existence until after she had died, and we never even get to know her name. Goldie maybe didn't know where Scrooge was, so she couldn't tell him about their love child.

Goldie is (pretty much) only Scrooge's ex in Don Rosa's stories. Dickie was invented by Scarpa in 1966, so she was never intended to fit in with Don's interpretation of Goldie and Scrooge's relationship.
Eelkat's posts in that BCDB thread read like bad fanfic, trying desperately to combine Scarpa's creation Dickie with Don Rosa's timeline for Scrooge McDuck.

Any science must be elaborately documented to be given any value - and, though interesting to read, the thread is several years old, several summers and winters have come and gone, so Eelkat must have had the opportunity to get to his French/Italian/whatever magazines to get the proofs for his findings!

The times have changed and nowadays no one would take any offence, but still - to have U$ and Goldie have a child - nah!
She did not throw the money in his face, saying: "I did not let you bend my tail feathers for fifteen bucks, you Tightwad!"
She does in fact tell Hewey and Dewey: "The forty years I've scratched a living from these frozen rocks - the lonely winters - the cold - the Mosquitoes! All for nothing!"
It would have been the right occasion to say: "The lonely winters bringing up a child !" wouldn't it?

True, true. Eelkat didn't present us with any real evidence for his/her theory. One panel where Dickie calls Scrooge "Grandpa" would have been enough, but it seems like we have yet to see one. Is that because no such panel exists? It starts to seem so. But as I explained in an earlier post, I understand how Eelkat, or someone else out there, can have come up with such a theory. Because if Glittering Goldie has a granddaughter, and Scrooge isn't the grandfather, then who is? Of course, you could simply answer that with "Goldie must have had another man in her life at some point", and that's fair enough. But nevertheless, I can really understand how someone could suspect Scrooge of being Dickie's grandfather. The fact that she's so rarely used outside Italy and Brazil doesn't help either, because that might give her an air of mystique with some people, almost as if someone was ashamed of her.
