Trail Tycoon with art by Carl Barks has been placed in the default album in the photo section.
Grandma Duck & Uncle Scrooge are at Disneyland riding the Conestoga Wagon attraction that was
there from 1955 to 1959. This is not explained in the 6 page story, so if you think it is odd that Grandma
& Scrooge are in the old west together, that's why. Enjoy.

Hello,
Today I was browsing through the statistics of "Disney in Italia"
the web site where are stored all the informations about Disney
comics in Italy, and I received the great surprise of more than 300
visitors on a single day. Since the average visitors number uses to
be about 50-60 persons, there was something "strange"....
I checked the referral links, and I was surprised to see that almost
all the visitors came from a page of the "Corriere della Sera" web
site, the most important Italian newspaper, that made a special page
for Disney's 100th birthday at the address

Hi,
Last week end in Rome was quite interesting for comics-oriented
people like us ("quite" interesting, not "very"!)
There were two exhibitions devoted to comics, and I also had the
pleasure to meet some of our subscribers and other Disney fans:
Harry Fluks (who came from his usual cold Holland to the unusual
cold Rome), Marco Barlotti, Dario Ambrosini, Nicola Raimondi, all
Inducksers and Silverware and Morpheus, members of the Italian PKNA
mailing list.
On Wednesday I met Harry outside his hotel, and we had a dinner
during which we talked a lot about comics, Inducks and Dizni. But
the interesting thing, I think, is our visit to the exhibitions.
On Thursday we first visited Expocartoon (it was easier to reach by
underground) where we had to wait a while for a couple of Italian
ministers to proceed with the official inauguration. There were few
comic-related stands, also from well-known sellers with interesting
things to see (and buy). But the greater part of the exhibition was
related to other things than comics: car stereo, military aviation,
toys, car models, pay-per-view channels, shooting at target game,
etc.....
After a quick look, we left for Romics, where, for the first time
since the first Expocartoon, there was no one waiting to buy
tickets!
The exhibition space was very little if compared to the space of the
previous editions of Expocartoon, but there were also interesting
things, such as the meeting about comics & web that took place on
Sunday.
Too bad I lost my wish-list, for the THIRD time in the last three
exhibitions!!! I'll have to get used to take a spare copy of it with
me! So I couldn't buy any Topolino.
On the afternoon and evening me and Harry spent some time browsing
through my collection, and choose few of my doubles... too bad he
isn't interested in "Almanacco Topolino": I have some copies in very
bad conditions reprinting very bad stories, but they take a lot of
space! ;-)
While Friday I had to go back to work, Saturday I met Harry again
and we spend some interesting hours in looking the Dizni source
code, talking about codes for multi-part stories, and other maniacal
aspects of our Inducksers activities.
On sunday I met the Italian part of the prevoius names list,
starting from a meeting with some of the webmasters from the Italian
web fanzines about comics (not only Disney) where the Inducks was
invited thanks to the precious help of Andrea Materia, one of the
organizators in Romics.
Then, after spending few hours looking for some Topolino issues, I,
Marc and Dario headed once again to Expocartoon, where I find an
"Albo d'oro" reprinting a (more or less) butchered version of ZM
43-11-21, the only MM continuity I was missing!
Well, I surely must be missing something, but that's the main part
of this long and interesting week end (interesting mainly because of
meeting so many friends!!!)

I have an order from some German to paint a picture of one of the old comic
book covers. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do a good job on it.
Because as I've grown older my hand is shaky, and my eyesight is getting so
bad from macular degeneration, that I can't focus on things, so that
painting a picture now I have to paint so close to it and have plenty of
rest for my hand, and to paint all that stuff with a limp little water color
brush-it's a very fine quality of sable hair, but it is limp. I don't know
whether I'm going to be able to do it, but I will try to get this painting
done, and that I believe will be the last one I ever do-painting. But these
colored pencils, I can do those because you have to bear down so hard on
those pencils to get the pigment to come off on the paper that the shaking
is all taken care of because it's just ground into the surface of the paper
there where it can't shake.
It [the painting] was the one of where Uncle Scrooge had a blanket and he
had a little fire and was sending up smoke signals of dollar signs. And this
guy wanted something added-it was a helicopter with Flintheart Glomgold in
it. I can't imagine what that purpose was, but something this guy imagines
is worth a lot of money.

newspaper in swedish in Finland (mostly read by swedish speaking Finns).

I think you must agree that this Gerstein/Jippes version is gorgeous! It
looks much better than the Klein/Nadorp version. It is also probably closer
to the original (e.g. it has no title, and it has dialogue in the first
panel).
On the other hand, this new version is still based on Rob Klein's findings.
But this time worked out with the knowledge of today (in stead of decades
ago), and with an excellent artist (nearly no-one can beat Jippes).

brand new Carl Barks story. The vault of Unca Carl someway never ran empty,
and this one is titled "Donald Duck in Christmas Mood" (2001-068). The
ten-pager is written by Barks, and drawn in company with the also talented
Daan Jippes. What is drawn by who is hard to say. I miss a "story behind
the story", so to say. Can anyone tell when the story was written and what
is drawn by Barks and Jippes?

This is *not* a brand new story, it is from 1945! The 1st half page was
lost, and replaced by a new half page made by David Gerstein and Daan
Jippes. The rest is made by Barks alone. The code (D 2001-068) only refers
to the first half page, not to the rest of the story. The Swedish title is
"Stilla natt?" and the English one is "Silent Night." Read some of the other
DCML mails sent earlier today for further information.
On a side note: Did you receive the issue as late as today? Here in Sweden
it has been available since Friday...
