Very briefly, Don was here from Thursday, October 28 to Friday, November 5,
giving Greeks even more reason to celebrate October 28, which is a national
holiday.
Don appeared at the presentation of the "Life and Times" book at a large
bookstore in Athens, where I gather that chaos ensued, as people pushed each
other trying to get their copy autographed. (I played it smart, by buying a
copy earlier in the morning, and not attending the event, so I don't know what
really happened.) I think the book sold out on the first day.
Don also appeared at another event, where he "met the fans". Perhaps someone
who attended can tell us what this actually was. (More book signing? A Q&A
session?)
Don gave several interviews, which found their way in various papers. Judging
from what I've read, the articles are full of inaccuracies and
misinterpretations. I think the most inaccurate of what was reported was that
Don's next story will be taking place in Athens and the Greek islands, while
all Don had told them is that this is one of the many stories that he would
like to do one day. (Of course, one can only hope!)
During the weekend of his stay, Don went to Thessaloniki to see list members
Archontis Pantsios and George Balanikas, and got to see some of the
sites near and not so near Thessaloniki.
On his return, I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife, and along with
Dimitris Dimakopoulos from Komix, I showed them around Athens. In just one
morning, we managed to visit the Acropolis and all the surrounding
archaeological sites, even finding time for a coffee break and lunch. I did my
best to overload Don with information that I'm sure he has already forgotten,
by I can't help thinking of that Donald Duck story, where he took a trip
around Europe in 48 hours, and the guide would tell them things like "and here
you see... I'm sorry there's no time to explain, we have to move on".
I gather that the rest of Don's time was taken by being shown around by the
publisher, Mr. Terzopoulos. [I got a glimpse of him: he's much older than I
imagined--probably by the same amount that I've aged since I first started
reading Disney comics. :-( ]

I think I'll suscribe this title. The rest of Gemstone are too expensive for
buy one a month. What about it? I know thanks to Derek that contains Barks
stuff...
I'll buy the #325 because Lost in the Andes, but buy one is suscribe, you
know. And ask for back issues.. .

Hello.
In issue 11 of "Carl Barks & Co." from 1978 I found a reproduction of an
undated Swedish (newspaper?) article written by one Arne Norlin. It
describes how Gutenberghus produced Disney material in the 1970s. It begins:
"Kalle Anka ?r svensk. Ibland.. Hans ?ventyr skrivs av en l?gstadiel?rere
fr?n Malm?, en h?gstadiel?rere fr?n Avesta och en bibliotekarie fr?n

Does any of you know where and when this article was originally published in
Sweden? I suspect that it was in one of the major newspapers (like Dagens

Akuankka.fi has published it's Christmas Calender. Each day there is a
question (or should be - I did only see the options) and by answering
correct you get to see a picture by Don Rosa. The pictures seem to be
the same they used last year. Anyway, it looks great. Check it out:

A little late and a little off-topic, but since nothing much seems to be
happening on the list at the moment...
According to Comics Continuum

cartoon series "will first be previewed with four sequential one-minute
W.I.T.C.H. short stories airing during November on JETIX." (I'm guessing
they mean the US version of JETIX.)

I personally don't subscribe to DDF, I just buy it from the comic book store
every month. My shop offers a 10% discount if you buy more than 5 titles
regularly per month and since Gemstone charges the cover price as the subscription
price, for me that's the way to go.
In your case, living outside the US, subscribing probably is the cheapest way
to go. I think DDF is a pretty good comic. Some months are better than
others, but some real gems pop up in there. If you need any help finding back
issues, my shop has almost all of the DDF back issues for $3 each (last time I
checked). So if you have any trouble finding old issues, maybe we can arrange to
find and ship the issues you need.

Thanks a lot, Derek. Is indeed the cheapest title from Gemstone. Here 1 peso are around 3 dollars... I did suscribe Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck but was too much expensive. Same thing with Picsou magazine. So I am barely reading comics online.
But I read comics, I need paper!! Beyond any Scott McCloud said about internet...
Anyway, I'll suscribe tomorrow in the most trendy comic shop of Buenos Aires to DD&F and ask about back issues. I'll write you if I have troubles with that.

You think Scrooge would be a francmason? I can't imagine any image of him in
the Temple with his brothers of the Lodge. But anyway, I just have that
