Hi!!

We all know that Scrooge's character is inspired by Ebenezer Scrooge, whose
role he played in "Mickey Christmas Carol"..

In my genealogical researches, I found several Ebenezer in the family :
first in strobl's "Uncle Donald and His Nephews - Family Fun", from "Dell
Giant" # 38, 1960

we can see a Ebenezer Duck on a family tree...

Then, Asger Pedersen's list mentions an Ebenezer McDuck in Bradbury's "Indian
Takeover" (S 68064 , 1968), who was Scrooge's grandfather, at least in the
danish version of that story :

and eventually, INDUCKS mentions a "Old Ebeneeza McDuck "
in Strobl's "Be it Ever so Humble " (S 67019 , 1967)

Does anybody know if Strobl and Bradbury communicate their works to
eachother, or that Bradbury's knew strobl's 1967 story? Were both ebenezer's intended
to be the same character???

Yep. The pictures shown on the poster are indeed the ones
included as ten foldout prints in the deluxe hardcover. The idea
behind the prints is to show the Good Housekeeping art as it was
originally painted, before the text verses were added (of course, in
the main body of the book, the art appears as published, with the
verses included).

These are all in the book, plus a page based on SKY TROOPER that
was shelved and never published in the old days. But no OLD MILL.

In general, all of us at Gemstone are indescribably glad to get
this book on sale at last. The work on it wore us out, but I think it
was worth it!

I saw mention here about "Don Rosa calendar",
with no definite information? Is there a 2006 DR
calendar published in Finland? In an Oslo bookstore
I saw however a _Hall of Fame_ 2006 calendar.

It looked perhaps nice enough, with contributions
for the different months by the artists that have
had books in Egmont's Norway-Sweden-Denmark-
Germany Hall of Fame series -- without looking
carefully I take it the artists are Barks, Rosa, Romano
Scarpa, Vicar, Marko Rota, Paul Murry, Daan Jippes,
and possibly Branca? I suppose the calendar is
being put out for sale in the Scandinavian Egmont
countries. In Germany too, perhaps?

Anyway, I hesitated in buying one, since I've invented
(& patented with the US Bureau of Patents) a genius way
of arresting time, stopping calendar time at 2003 for ever.
I simply recirculate the 2003 Don Rosa calendar year
after year in my kitchen, applying & moving around yellow
post-its (one post-it, two post-its?) with mandag tirsdag
osndag [sic!, keeping Don Rosa's surprising Norwegian
spelling] torsdag fredag l?rdag s?ndag. And the 2003
calendar is nicer than the HoF calendar, imVho -- the
different styles make it too heterogeneous, too little
"one good reconisable style", and that hurt my prospective
buyer's eyes just enough to go back to 2003, once again.

In all the daily stories where cousin sock appears, no one states his real
name "Socrates M. Gosling"... at least not in the very useful scans provided in
coa
Is this a name invented later by disney, or does he gets this name in
reprints???
What about his other name, "Aristotle" ???

I think I can fill you in on that one. Cousin Sock is the
little goose with the large glasses, right? He comes to
stay with Donald and, on hearing his name, HDL suppose
that he's called Sock because he's a boxer and likes to
beat people up. "Sock", however, turns out to be short for
"Socrates"; the new cousin is a shy and bookish boy.

In Dutch, the pun [Sock-Socrates] was translated into
Stoot-Aristoteles, which has basically the same meaning
[punch - ancient Greek philosopher]. A very beautiful
translation, imho, and even more so because Aristoteles
was a pupil of Socrates' pupil Plato.

I don't know if "Aristotle" is used as a translation in
other languages (does it also work in German or Danish?)
and I don't know if you found "Aristotle" in any English
language publication, but maybe the name Aristotle for
cousin Sock derives originally from a translation and was
never (meant to be) used in English publications.

It has been quite a lot of period without just any single word about what
the next Rosa story should be.
I really think that this is the question that only Rosa can answer,
especially after concidering the fact that after finishing the "Prisoner of
White Agony Creek" story passed 5 months. I hope that soon he will announce
his next project.
