Mykal you may have something there. I once suggested that they bring back the standard format comic books but Everyone on here said it was a bad idea because they don't sell very well. That's why they cancelled them to begin with.

Roger: One can always hope! I sent off an email to Gemstone at David's suggestion. I think he is right in believing the Gemstone will never publish another title unless they are fairly convinced it will make money (and who can blame them for that?). About the only way to convice them that a third title is viable is to show them a large number of requests/emails/letters.

You might imagine it would take thousands of letters. Not true. I can speak from experience that a publisher will sit up and take notice with very few actual letters or emails. Robb: Exactly! They told you true. To tell a publisher that you have X number of friends "that feel the same way" doesn't perk their ears up at all (they have no evidence that that is true). However, those 7 or 8 friends of yours that DID bother to write mattered a great deal, as did your correspondence (good job!). Write it! Write in! Write in!

I'm with Mykal on this. While it would have been great if all of the 50 people emailed Gemstone, I still am excited that 7 or 8 of your friends did, Robb. Every email or letter counts!

"I really love the new uncle Scrooge prestige comic, which brings me back to a question I have asked before. Are you any closer to starting a Donald Duck prestige book? I thought by now you might have some early figures on how the first issue of Uncle Scrooge in the new format sold and know if such a Donald Duck book looks feasible in the near future or not. I really hope that such a atitle comes out soon! I love Scrooge stories as much as anyone, lets not forget about the 'first' Duck, Donald!"

Substitute "Mickey Mouse" for "Donald Duck" and "first character" for "'first' Duck" and, with a slight alteration, this letter could be reprinted in Gemstone's next issue of Uncle Scrooge.
Here's Gladstone's answer:
"We're pretty happy with the figures on the WDC&S and the Uncle Scrooge prestige books, but we don't have any plans to introduce a third title just yet."

I simply picked this issue last night to read a story, and read the letters first-- I still like to read those; how about you? There's a lot of information to be gleaned from them that should be collected on a site.

Olivier, you brought a big smile to my face with what you wrote! So I guess I have been asking for a third prestige title for the past decade. Maybe we will get one by 2018! :)
I actually have a funny story about this letter. I had written it as a general email to Gemstone, not to a specific comic title. And then I ended up kind of forgetting about it. Well, when I got US 311, as usual, I read the letter column first. Well, I started reading this one letter in it and I was thinking to myself, "Boy, this guy has a lot of the same opinions I have! This is really odd (but cool) he has the same ideas as me!". After I got to the end of the letter, I saw the that writer was *myself!!! :) So I think that is a funny story, unless it is a sad commentary on how bad my memory was (and still is)... :)
And yes, when I re-read old Disney comcs issues, I always re-read the letter column. It is also interesting to see the old ads. I was reading an issue that Disney published in the early 1990's and saw an ad promoting the first Disney game for the Nintendo NES video game system. Boy, what a way to feel old! :)

It's honestly quite embarrasing to look back over old issues and see your name in print. I remember coming across one that I had never managed to get in my collection and only snagged it recently. I'd forgotten I'd written the letter and wound up thinking to myself "JEEZUM CROW DID I WRITE THAT WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING **foaming at the mouth and passing out**

I only had my name in the letter column of four comic books. The first one was Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #663, The second one was Mickey Mouse and Friends #289, the third one was in Mickey Mouse and Friends #292 and the fourth was in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #691. I thought it was cool to see my name in the letter columns. That never happened with the Gladstone or Disney or Marvel issues.
