In the latest issue of WDC&S, John Clark writes, "The issue of whether to introduce another periodical title or to concentrate on more specials seems to be up in the air, with a slight edge going to the latter, according to letters we receive."
So now would be a great time for those of us who really want a 3rd monthly prestige title to write (or write *again*) Gemstone and beg, plead, demand, ask, etc. for such a title.
Perhaps if enough of us write we can give an edge to the "former"! :)

In WDC&S #695 there are three letters of comment written in favor of a 3rd monthly prestige title. The following is the written response:
So it seems some folks are interested in seeing a third prestige title. Either a title alternating monthly between Donald and Mickey or another WDC&S-like book which features both Mickey and Donald might be feasible. We'll give it consideration for our upcoming licensing period, next year.
So it looks like there is at least a chance (dare I hope for a *good* chance?) of a 3rd title starting sometime next year. I am thrilled with this news!
So if you are interested in such a title *please* write or email Gemstone and let them know how much you want such a title. If you have already written them about this, *please* write again! Remember that your vote counts!!! (It *is* election day in the USA!) :)

So they are publishing a third prestige format title. I wonder what they're going to call it. Mickey and Donald? Donald and Mickey? Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse? Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck? All of those titles have used before except for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

It seems to me (and I could be wrong) that their target audience is likely collectors in the 35-55 year old age range.
Additionally, these people are currently paying nearly $170 a year for two comic book titles. At peak production, with Gemstone producing six titles, I believe the total was somewhere around $380.
That's a lot of money to ask people to spend, even diehard collectors. I LOVE Disney comics, but a chunk of my "hobby money" also goes to buying things on Ebay and other places such as Gladstone.
There's only so much money to go around.
Factor in a very sluggish economy, and I don't know if I can see Gemstone pulling in the numbers without charging $10 a month. And even if they did, I don't know how many people would balk at that price.
I would like nothing more than a third title (my letter was published by Gemstone), but being a Marketing/Public Relations person, I just don't know if I see a market for it.

I never thought of it that way. I guess a third prestige format title is a bad idea. Sure it will provide more variety but the two existing comics are expensive enough. A third one will just make matters worse.
