Glad to see this new forum. The international (English language) forum on the Dutch McDrake.NL Forum is dead (it seems to have been a failure)-so I wish this one success!
I recognise a lot of old friends here.
But.... what is the difference between "members" and "invited members"? I am listed as an invited member. But, I surely don't remember being invited! Nevertheless, I am here, and ready to discuss Disney Comics, regardless of my status.

Thanks to everyone!
By the way, I would like to point out in this message that I am a big fan of the DCML. The only reason that this place exists is because it seemed to me an English forum was lacking, and that today many people would rather use web fora. But the DCML maintainers expressed their wish of sticking to a mailing list (which has benefits and also a few drawbacks).
DCML is THE historical Disney comics place and the list on which most interesting Disney comics discussions ever took place. If this place has 5% of the interesting talks on DCML, that will be a success.
So it's out of necessity that this forum is created and not meant as a "challenger project". This is also because I haven't seen any other dedicated English forum out there.
PS: I have launched that forum myself with the help of a few friends, and use the Inducks server for hosting the forum. But apart for that, it's not part of Inducks, as Inducks is only the Disney comics database itself (some "indexers" pointed it to me, although I guess most visitors will not care too much).

I didn't know what to put there, but "Invited member" just means I would have invited you if you hadn't register. So it's basically people I know.
In the future, volunteers could help with moderating the forum and such (of course it would be only voluntary). But nothing has been defined yet. And all this will only be if the forum is successful. If it isn't we won't need moderators I guess...

One last thing: I think you can register with a "fake email" such as (Email removed) if you prefer, as the email verification is not activated.

Good; I tried erasing mine in the profile, to no avail. Let's make it a fake one, them-- fake enough so nobody won't receive spam in my stead.

Although of course I won't do anything with these people emails, and I assume these are not visible to other users.

No worries needed. We use the same forum system on the webpage of the Danish Donaldistic Society, and it's possible to hide one's email address from other users. Actually, there are three settings:
- Let everybody (including email address harvesters) be able to see the address
- Hide address, but allow other users to send mail to you through the forum (the email message will be entered in a text field directly on the forum, and an email will be sent to the user from the forum system -- i.e. the sender will never know to which address he has sent the email)
- Completely hide address
I think option 2 is the default setting. And of course, in all cases, email addresses are visible to forum administrators.

Great idea, this forum. A suggestion: Could we have a sub-forum of academic (inside) donaldism? I have a few topics I'd like to present there, but I wouldn't bother other more creator/publication-oriented donaldist with scrolling past dozens of 'Is Gus Goose the father of April, May and June'-type questions.

I think this fits perfectly into "Disney comics". We can add a "off-topic" sub-forum but for really off-topic discussions...

This seems to be a great forum!
I do hope that it will show up be as nice and as successful as the Danish DDF(r)-forum has been up to this date :)
The one thing I am not so happy with is that the members seem to be sorted in classes. I have never seen that in any other forum. What is good with a class society? New readers/members may think that the "invited members" (whatever that may be) is a kind of upper-class members superior to ordinary members.

Initially the terms were generic (Administrator/Moderator/Member) and an attempt at Woodchuckifying the ranks was dismissed as silly. Maybe you have a better idea? Goof/Duck/Mouse?
