Topic: What do you think is the weirdest Disney comic cover?

Were those authorized Disney comics? Wow, they're not what I'm used to seeing. Guess all foreign language Disney books aren't like the Italian and Egmont produced material which can be translated and reworked to be suitable for just about any country.
Cacou
I think they were authorized. Hachette used to send a lot of material to Egypt, so Disney was aware of these comics. But this was the 60s and 70s. Brazilian or French comics from that period also were meant for the local publications only. We will probably never see such things anymore: Disney was not as sensitive as they are now to the comic style.
The original covers aren't always great, but a testimony of how popular Disney publications were in Egypt.
NB: the cover and data above are provided thanks to Inducks and particularly the indexer of Egyptian comics.

Loved the Egyptian stuff. I think all of those obscure comics from different countries have to be republicated.

Same here. I find characters such as The Red Cat fascinating.

If only I could read the stories...

This one is by Ahmed Hijazy (1966). Is the red cat there? I'm not sure.

This one with square water droplets is funny

Cover by Carl Barks, for American WDC 169 + Spanish Dumbo 189. This cover looks outright painful. HDL's initials have been changed for publication in different languages. Their Spanish names are Jorgito, Juanito & Jaimito, so in the Spanish variant, Donald shaves the 2nd letters of their names.

Cover of Donald mocking the ducks freaks me out for some reason... O_o
Debbie
The Spanish barber drawing is definitely redrawn entirely by another artist. Besides the different letters, other differences in the line weight of the inking, the barber pole leans in a bit more toward the Ducks, and slight differences in their eyes, beaks and the position of their legs and feet are all dead giveaways.

Yeah, but I wouldn't have noticed it, if you hadn't mentioned it.

Weird indeed. Some seem to be ripped directly from the stories, like those by Paul Murry for example. Others (obviously) drawn by local artists.
