My American Disney comic books are mainly a nearly complete Carl Barks first edition collection (missing the Kites giveaway) 1942-1969 but also a complete Barks reprint collection from the Carl Barks Library in Color (which sadly though evidently did not include every story, such as Donald's Grandma Duck from Vacation Parade 1 1950).

Furthermore I have all longer Paul Murry-drawn Mickey Mouse stories in first editions from the 1950´s and similarly all longer Tony Strobl-drawn Donald Duck stories in first editions from the 1950's and some newer Murry stories also including his long Phantom Plot stories. Some of these of course are printed in comic books included in the Barks collection.

I also have some newer WDC&S etc not included here with Daan Jippes and Don Rosa stories.

I also have a near complete Carl Barks Benny Burry Barney Bear first editions collection not included here.

Before I also had a complete Swedish NM or better Disney comics collection 1948-1968 but now I only keep a complete reading collection in less grade 1950-1968 consisting of some 700 comic books but just for reference since I prefer my American comic books in the original language.

That is a collection I'm jealous of. Amazing. I should put up my US comics collection here some time, just for posterity (eh, that's what this topic is for). But right now, I feel more like watching a DVD of Doctor Who.

That is quite a collection you have Runner.

The American collection was mainly built around 1973-1977 when I put some hundred different orders to dozens of comic book dealers in the USA who were advertising in The Buyer´s Guide etc.
Nowadays it should be a lot easier, but more expensive, to purchase such a collection through the internet.

As soon as I get myself better organized and set up my Disney Library in my train room's walk-in closet, I hope to post my collection.
Monochrome
Yay, I was at a pop culture fair not too long ago, and I picked up some more (I think about 10 of them or so) :D Sadly no one had anything other then gold key, which tends to be more expensive, and I don't like the quality as much as the later ones (for obvious reasons). One of the comics I did pick up though I got for really cheap because it was missing a center page, but it was the first one with Magica in it! It's quite interesting to see just how much her and that dime's relationship changed over time.
Dutch Duckfan Down Under
I'm not sure where to put this, but here seems the most appropriate place. I have finally been able to purchase some Boom comics. Don't worry, they're all from the "special 70th half-year anniversary a year too late". My thoughts, and maybe some dead-horse-beating.

On Donald Duck 363: I can't believe how filled "The Saga of Captain Duckburg" is with Barks references. Even the barber chair from the cartoon Modern Inventions is there! Very meta, how the first fan letter came 20 years after the first pay check, the fate of the original art and electroplates, and the resolution with Lost in the Andes. (Actually, I read the story before, in Dutch, but it's much more awesome in English.)
"Somewhere Beyond Nowhere" is fine, but the ending seems forced.

On Donald Duck 365: Pedrocchi's "Special Correspondent" kicks butt. Especially Peter Pig.

On Uncle Scrooge 400: The cover art seems to have been enlarged too much.
"Uncle Scrooge and The Man Who Drew Ducks" is a treat. It's got the original Italian coloring, something unusual in US U$ comics. They inserted the original Barks text in the old comics, and that's great. And the story itself is Cavazzano, so that's almost a given.
"Obsession" is a smart story, that really fleshes Magica's character out.
The authors' musings on 400 issues of Uncle Scrooge were fine, but Warren Spector was given as much space as Jippes, Van Horn, Erickson and Cavazzano together! Seriously?!

On Uncle Scrooge 401: I liked "The Universal Solvent", but all the sound effects seemed to have been computerized. A bit unnecessary and ugly.

On Walt Disney's Comics and Stories 715: "70th Heaven" is still a great story. It's also a different story than the Dutch version, which was very localized. Some plot-relevant things were changed, and even one speech bubble was attributed to somebody else, but on the whole it was necessary to make sense for American reader. The last pages of dialogue deviate completely from the original. In the end, it feels like you've read a different story with the same art. But you need skill to make it flow naturally, and the story succeeded in that. Kudos to Dave Gerstein, that was a tough job you did well. There also one unforgivable gem of a reference in the story, which conveniently sums up my thoughts: "Marvelous! Stupendous! Colossal! Tremendous! Gigantic! Astounding! Unbelieable! Spectacular! Phenomenal! And they're good, too!" I've only starting watching Looney Tunes recently, and "Daffy Duck Goes Hollywood" was one of the twenty or so that I've seen so far, so that left a big impression on me.
The Bad Wolf story is a nice cross-over. It shows that Zeke would eat almost anyone, which is a scary thought.

As a whole: Boom's editorial bits sound like (Tell-Sell channel) ads. Since I'm used to Gladstone's and Disney's and Gladstone's and Gemstone's more 'humble' approach, I am NOT amused.

Really? I don't think I've read a boom Disney comic before (other than the life and times, but that doesn't count really) so I find that rather surprising. Personally, I think everyone else's is better as well in that case.

Well, I think they were overpromoting everything they released. Maybe not up to the extent of a Tell-Sell channel, but it was certainly noticable. And since we know that Boom wasn't that good as a publisher, even more.
