That must be a different character than Grandma. Why should Taliaferro change his own creation's appearance THAT much? It's not even implied the old lady is related to Donald, she just knows his family history well.
As for Gedeone it just strikes me he must have been the first recurring male Duck character to wear shoes!

She looks enough like Grandma for me to accept that it's supposed to be her, and all characters do evolve as the years go by, even when drawn by the same artist. But does she look like that in all the strips around that time period, or was this an isolated aberration?

Interesting. I don't think we'll ever see that story in the US, even if we ever get another publisher, since this version of the Duck family tree doesn't gel with Rosa's. Are Scrooge and Gideon on good terms? Did Gideon follow Scrooge to the US from Scotland? Is he supposd to be much younger than Scrooge?

Do you mean that Grandma disappeared from the strip for ten years? Was that first 1966 strip that was posted her first appearance in a decade, then? It looks like Taliaferro believes Grandma raised Donald, based on the 1956 strip. Which leads me to ask, although Rosa doesn't believe it to be so, did Taliaferro ever hint that he believed Grandma to be Donald's mother?

I can understand why you would say that for Donald and the nephews, since Taliaferro was regularly working on the strips before Barks was on the comics. But when it comes to Scrooge, Barks' creation, why would we consider Taliaferro more canonical?

In fact, the last time Barks drew Daisy was (as far as I can determine) in http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=W+WDCD++5-12 , where she very much looks like herself. ;)

OK. I didn't realize Gedeone being Scrooge's younger half-brother was fanfic.
As far as I know, it has never been told in any story.

No, it's the last full story Barks drew. He wrote several stories after having drawn "The Dainty Daredevil".
Yes, I know. Barks wrote a lot of JW stories drawn by Wright, Strobl, Jippes, etc...

What canon? Because different artists have different storylines.
I'm interested in seeing this thread though, because I wrote a fanfic about a niece of Scrooge McDuck: Darlene McDuck. And since her last name is "McDuck", I guess Scrooge must have had a brother, who was her father. I settled for Gideon, even though I've never heard a story about him, and I had even forgotten his name.

I remember an user of Papersera forum created a family for Gideon, including a male child named "Alessandrino de' Paperoni" (Wee Alex McDuck).

Roger, according to Romano Scarpa and several others it's a fact that Scrooge has a brother named Gedeone. The information Sim gave us about Gedeone being Scrooge's younger half-brother seems to be fanfic, however.
I never read a story in which Gideon is told to be younger than Scrooge or just his half-brother. The same name Gideon is a fan name based on the "translation" of the Italian Gedeone.
