Yes. It was clear from the very beginning that the book would have a Jeff Smith cover. What you can see on Amazon is a preview cover that just uses a blown-up panel from a comic. This is NOT what the book will look like.

I'd rather have a blow-up of Barks' panel art than a cover by someone else. But I won't complain about Smith's cover (which is a nice drawing), IF the book DOES include the 3 "Happy Hound" stories, and the 2 Benny Burro solo stories. I have no idea why they wouldn't include those.

For those of you interested in a decent English print of Barks' Porky story: check out DC Comics' 1998 trade paperback "Bugs Bunny and Friends: A Comic Celebration" (ISBN 1-56389-458-0).
It is out of print, but used copies shouldn't be hard to find. In addition to Barks, it includes lots of vintage WB material by Strobl, Hubbard, and others.

The story credited to Hubbard in this book (a "Mary Jane and Sniffles" story) is definitely not his??may be Strobl, actually, though I don't remember for sure.
The Bugs story credited to Strobl in the book ("The Traveling Tree") is definitely his.

Hello all! I am new here, but am a long-time Disney collector and am looking forward to participating.
Anyhow- on the topic of the Barks Bear Book. Craig Yoe (the writer/publisher) asked me to proof-read the book and sent along an electronic copy to this end. So I have had the chance to read the book and must say - it is GREAT! I am looking forward to the print copy as soon as it is published.

Wellcome, bergdoll - good news...
That was an "Eye-opener". Can you confirm the what-abouts on whether the book is complete or not?
Bergdoll
The book is complete - and, I believe also printed! The eCopy I have is complete and needed very little in the way of proofing as it is basically an introduction and into the comics. From what Craig told me via internet - printed copies were being sent to San Diego for ComicCon. I am looking at the eCopy as I write this and, as it is PDF I cannot give a final page count.
Those Eye-Opener magazines are always something I look for here in Calgary! So far... no luck!

Hm... I guess by "complete" Hedberg meant if the book includes those Porky, Panda and Hound stories, not complete in the sense of "already completed". ;)

Barney and Benny only. I took a real quick look at it just now, but skimmed quick. All the stories are under the Barney and Benny banner.
Also, my family comes from Hieldelberg and Wiesloch! So if you are just south of Frankfurt than say hello to them! haha!

...and "Our Gang" as well - but obviously not ...

Apparently there was a mix-up with the printer and the books didn't make it to San Diego. Should be out soon.

In stock now at the Book Depository, so Amazon should be shipping sooner or later, too.

Did Barks also write these stories or did he only draw them?
EDIT: this is my 500th post! I should spend less time here. :)
Gerd Syllwasschy
He wrote most of them, with a few exceptions. In fact, he re-used some of the storylines later for his Duck plots. The Barneys are quite interesting to read, also from that point of view.
