Quote from user: GeoXQuote:That IS selfish. But, more importantly, it is irrelevant. What you paid for the black and white version is gone money. It doesn't effect what you do now.
Yes, but I would have felt obliged to buy the new version if it were comprehensive, wouldn't I? Not that I would have minded--my gladness to own a complete, high-quality collection would have been much greater than my momentary irritation at having to shell out more money--but it's certainly relevant to my current, real-world purchasing decisions.

I have never read or seen ANY of those stories. Would you send me a copy then?

Quote from user: cacouSo the three Droopy 8-pages stories (Barks script only) from "Tom and Jerry Winter Carnival 1" and 2 (1952-1953) and from "Tom and Jerry Summer Fun 1" (1953), with art by Harvey Eisenberg, aren't there? sadly it seems the Menfin book, which contains the Happy Hound story, is more complete (albeit the poor quality).
I don't like Eisenberg's art much. I would have liked to see, the two Benny Burro solo stories, the 3 Barks (written and drawn) "Happy Hound" stories, and the Barks-drawn storyboards for the 3 Barks-written "Droopy" 8-page stories ALL included, as they ALL belong to MGM. The book could have been titled: "Carl Barks' Barney Bear and Friends", or "Carl Barks' Barney, Benny and Droopy". It's a crying shame that this book has roughly 4/5 of the pages it could and should have, and is just not complete. the missing pages are too small in number to warrant a second book.

Just for the record: Barks did three Bennys and two Happys.

Is there any evidence that Barks' scribbles are still available? I have never seen them, at least.

They probably don't exist anymore. Otherwise we'd have seen them. I would have wanted them in this volume had they existed. I don't care to see Harvey Eisenberg's Droopy drawings in a Barks volume. I don't like his artwork. They'd likely be farther from Barks than Tony Strobl's Jr. Woodchucks drawn from Barks' scribbles. I'd rather see Daan Jippes "recreate Barkslike drawings based on Eisenberg's drawings (IF Barks' scribbles don't exist).

Quote from user: bergdoll... on the topic of the Barks Bear Book. Craig Yoe (the writer/publisher) asked me to proof-read the book and sent along an electronic copy to this end. So I have had the chance to read the book and must say - it is GREAT! I am looking forward to the print copy as soon as it is published.
The book is a MUST for any Barks fan, I really liked it although I already have the Norwegian Book, the old Barks Bear Book and the Danish Comic Books with all the stories.
But as already written in this topic, the book only has the Barney Bear & Benny Burro stories. Barks' other Non-Disney stories are (Some of the titles are from other sources than the story itself):

Andy Panda: The Widow??s Doughnuts, Story by Eleanor Packer, New Funnies No. 76, June 1943 - - - - - - - - - 10 pages
Porky Pig: Porky of the Mounties, Story by Chase Craig, Four Color Comics No. 48, July 1944 - - - - - - - - - - 24 pages
Benny Burro: With a Little Help to my Friends, Our Gang Comics No. 8, Nov.-Dec. 1943 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 8 pages
Benny Burro: The Playful Mountain Goat, Our Gang Comics No. 9, Jan.-Feb. 1944 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 8 pages
Benny Burro: A Bird of Beauty is a Pest Forever, Our Gang Comics No. 10, Mar.-Apr. 1944 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 8 pages
Happy Hound: A Hard Day??s Day Off, Our Gang Comics No. 9, Jan.-Feb. 1944 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 8 pages
Happy Hound: Mother is a Wolf??s Best Friend, Our Gang Comics No. 11, May-June 1944 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 6 pages
Droopy: King of the Fox Hounds, Art by Harvey Eisenberg, Tom & Jerry Winter Carnival No. 1, 1952 - - - - 8 pages
Droopy: Hero Hound, Art by Harvey Eisenberg, Tom & Jerry Winter Carnival No. 2, 1953 - - - - - - - - - - - - 8 pages
Droopy: Bluebeard's Buried Treasure, Art by Harvey Eisenberg, Tom & Jerry Summer Fun No. 1, 1954 - - - 8 pages

Totally 96 pages of comics. Is there any chance to convince Craig Yoe that these stories should also be published in a second volume? How do I contact hm?

I also have The Barks Bear book, the entire run of Danish colour Tom & Jerry comic books with Barks stories, and a few albums with the Barks MGM work. But, I'd also like a second book like Yoe's book. But, the first book had 200 pages of comics. The second book , with only 96 pages of featured comics stories would be only half the size of the first.
