This is incredibly sad news. As AC pointed out, Sonja Rindom truly
renewed the Danish language. More than merely translating the Disney
comics, she adapted them in her own unique, concise way so they felt
relevant to millions of Danes and became a natural part of our lives.
Her work on Barks' stories, especially, defined the Ducks to the degree
that this material has become the ultimate standard for Duck comics in
Denmark. Sonja Rindom and her translations won't be forgotten.

Hey All,

Which published Barks/Block combination " Somwhere in Nowhere.It says barks skethed a version for pat Block to ink and they show it. It also says . This cover will be published this coming year in the USA for the first time as a special, square bound Gemstone Disney book. Pat Block worked from the script by Carl Barks and John Lustig on this story, and Carl himself edited the art and made changes. The only plans were going to be in WDCs 650 or annual type thing. Did Gemstone plan out what the cover will look like and what stories are going to back it up.

Hi all!
Upon reading MMF 271 today, I came across a strange occurance in the third
story, "The Santa Skeptic." Everything's fine through page 6. Then suddenly
starting on page 7, the comic reader becomes Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" and
pages 7-10 repeat what happened on pages 3-6. Perhaps if the Doc starts
believing in Santa Claus, the story will resume its course? ;)
Will the last 4 pages of the story be printed in a later issue? Though it
might be awkward to print only 4 pages, but then it would be a waste of space to
reprint the 6 pages we already have. Maybe a brief explanation before the 4
pages are printed...
Anyway, I thought that was a funny/weird thing to see when I was reading
through the book. :)
And the Somewhere in Nowhere book sounds like it'll be great.

I have no idea what's up with that... My copy of MM 271 has the full
story, with all the correct pages, in the correct order. Maybe it was a
printing error with that particular copy?

I have no idea what's up with that... My copy of MM 271 has the full
story, with all the correct pages, in the correct order. Maybe it was a
printing error with that particular copy?

I have submitted cover scans, collected from the web, of 1930's Mickey Mouse giveaways that are now posted on I.N.D.U.C.K.S. Included is a new entry "Mickey Mouse Magazine Giveaway" which was the first Mickey Mouse type comic that appeared in magazine periodical, i.e. monthly, issues. This was the first MM Mag.series and ran for 9 issues begining in November 1933. This was followed by the second or Diary series which ran until the publication of the third series in 1935 which was the retail,i.e. sold, series which then became Walt Disney Comics and Stories in 1940.
Submitted but not yet posted is a cover scan for the 1931 Mickey Mouse Comic No. 1 which may be considered the first one shot Disney comic. (In the next successive three years, Nos. 2,3,and 4 were issued.) Stay tuned for the scan of No. 1.

but I have had a hobby project for many years, trying to collect his
gag and girlie drawings, i.e. the stuff he did apart from the Disney
comics. Since the sheer number of published drawings is simply
overwhelming, I recently compiled a small illustrated website with my
current checklist. Anybody who has a few cents to offer, or know of
any cartoon work not yet listed, is welcome to drop me a mail. Take a

is not a sequel to ?North of the Yukon.? There are definitely some
similarities between the two: 1) general location; 2) both involve dog
sledding; and 3) a desperate attempt by the hero to make his way across the
frozen tundra while the villain tries to stop him. There are, however, some
big differences between the two.
?Somewhere? does not continue or in anyway refer to the plot of ?Yukon.?
Scrooge is not the main character in ?Somewhere.? And the villains?although
both pig-faced?are different. In ?Somewhere? Donald is trying to deliver
mail to an impossible address in the wilderness and in ?Yukon? Scrooge is
racing against the villain to recover a satchel dropped from a plane.
I don?t want to get any more specific than that because I don?t want to
spoil the plot.
As to whether ?Somewhere? was inspired by ?Yukon,? well?yes, no and maybe.
?Yukon? was certainly a story I kept in the back of my mind when I was
scripting ?Somewhere.? But I certainly wasn?t trying to do a sequel or make
it similar to ?Yukon.? If anything, quite the reverse. I can?t say for sure
what Carl had in mind when he came up with the original plot. It may very
well be that some aspects of ?Yukon? were reflected in or influenced the
creation of ?Somewhere.?
