That Inducks article shows the first page of the Duckburg 100 story as it appeared in four different Italian comics and two different French comics. This is a Disney Comics forum, not a Fireplug forum.....but I saw that in three of the Italian comics the fireplug was blue and in one of them it was colored red. Of the two French publications, one colored the fireplug red and one colored it blue. In the United States, most fire hydrants are red or yellow. There can also be orange, green and blue hydrants. The color is a code that lets firefighters know how many gallons of water the hydrant can provide each minute. Do other countries have a similar color code for their hydrants?

When I grew up, back in the 1940s through the 1960s, fire hydrants were all one solid colour. They were red in Winnipeg, Chicago, Toronto and all over The Netherlands. They were yellow in some cities like Los Angeles and several in the Eastern US. The colour coding of the tops is a recent invention. They started doing that in Canada in about 2000. Not sure when that started in USA. They don't do that here in The Netherlands. I don't remember seeing coloured tops in Germany or Denmark, but I can't be sure, as I wasn't in those places as a child, and I haven't paid attention to details like that since my youth. Actually, I DID travel to Denmark and Germany, on holiday, first at age 17, but I wasn't interested in those kind of details at that age (if you know what I mean :) )!

I know we're getting off topic---again---but now I'm wondering why fireplugs are called "fireplugs." Shouldn't they be called "waterplugs"?
The lead story in Uncle Scrooge #3 (407) involves a bank giving out hundred-dollar bills to lucky citizens...and Scrooge then finding out he owns the bank. Why wouldn't the bank managers get Scrooge's permission before they start awarding money? Or is their failure to get permission part of the plot? I'm looking forward to reading this story.

Ha! Ha! If I worked for Scrooge McDuck, I certainly wouldn't give away his bank's money without his permission! :D And if I were to include that happening in one of my story scripts I could be assured 100% that my script would be rejected! I'll be very curious to read about the plot circumstances that make that action reasonable in the story line.

In Italy, overground hydrants can only be coloured with RAL 3000 fire red. Which is the colour for everything fire-related(signs, fire extinguishers, firefighters vehicles...)
I think the hydrants in the older Italian stories were of different colours only because the colourist thought they did look better that way, though.

Is the so-called "preview" only the cover. I can't open inside to look at any pages. Don't they usually show at least one page per story?
By the way, Marrk, we are having a Disney Comics fan bijeenkomst in Eindhoven on Saturday 11 July (at Eppo (stripwinkel)). Any chance you'd like to come? Several members of this forum will be there (including 3 Sanoma Uitgevers creators), and we may have one comics journalist, as well. I'm sure some drawings will be made. :)

I finally noticed the arrow that turns the pages. So, i saw the first 5 pages of the Scarpa lead story. But, I think it would be nicer to rather see less of the lead story but see the first page of each story in the book, so we can see the art style of an artist if it is an artist whose work we have never seen.
That helps me, as I either have to order a book unseen, or, when I'm in USA, have to drive far to a comic shop to look at a book I might end up not wanting to buy. And then, I've wasted time and gasoline money, and added pollution to the air, or sat a long time waiting for buses, or spent hours walking, all for nothing.

Looks like the cover is by Rota. Hope we have a chance to see some of his stories, somewhere, in the near future.

Yeah. It appears to be a pickup from Italy, from the reprinting of the "Duckburg 100" in Zio Paperone:

That's right??that's the exact version we used (well, except for adjusting the character colors to the US standard).
And we presently have a Rota story planned in just a couple of months.

It's good to see Tony Strobl get some recognition. Can someone post a link to the inducks page for the Strobl story in this issue. Normally I'd wait for inducks to have a page on the issue but considering that their still isn't a page on Donald Duck #1 I figured I'd ask.
