Jano,
This is such a wonderful idea! Thank you for making this rarely seen work available to Rosa fans around the world. It is sometimes frustrating to be a fan in the US and not having easy access to some of the wonderful collectibles and works that are available in Europe, etc.
I can't wait to see the work...
Best regards :)
Jano
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you're looking forward to it! :) And don't forget to spread the word to any friends that might know Don, too. ;)
Olivier
That's a splendid idea, Jano.
I already have the Gazette Bok editions, but the new edition seems to have interesting new material (which I suppose will be spread over the two books); do you have an estimate on the page count of the extra material, please?
I suppose the video is not just a tour but includes an interview, discussions of Ros's work, ...-- doesn't it?
Jano
Thanks, Olivier!
The bonus features will be spread over the two books, depending on whether they are about PP or CK (articles, illustrations etc.). The bonus comics, "Tagdenah", "Khulan" and "Phalanx" will be used in the books where their size fits best, "Tagdenah" and "Khulan" in the PP book, "Phalanx" in the CK book.
I don't have the exact page count of the CK yet, but the PP will be 240 pages, so it's about 50 pages more than the Gazette edition.
And the DR House Tour is the same that I've uploaded to Vimeo and YouTube last year: http://vimeo.com/channels/donrosatour
Don tells a lot of candid stuff about his home and his vast collections, but it's not really an interview. So everyone has the choice to watch it for free on the internet, but I know that a DVD makes it easier for some to watch on their television set, which might be more comfortable than watching on a computer screen.

I'm proud to announce that we reached our initial goal with about three more weeks to go! However, please don't stop spreading the word! If we can make it to $15,000 or $16,000, we should be able to produce the books in a bigger format. Preorders on Indiegogo are open till August 1.
Review Or Die
Well, this is probably an odd first post. But here goes.
Hi DCF. I'm posting here because Don Rosa agreed to do an interview with me in the next couple of days regarding Captain Kentucky and The Pertwillaby Papers for the fundraiser. I thought it would be nice to get some more information out about the books, so I'm doing a series on my blog in conjunction with the interview. The first two installments have been posted, and the interview itself will be hosted at http://reviewordie.wordpress.com/
While I do have my share of questions, I would like to take this opportunity to know if you guys have anything you would like to ask him. I won't guarantee that it will be used, but you will be credited (by name or username as you wish) if your question is used in the interview.
The interview will be conducted and posted sometime in the next few days.
And a big thank you to Jano for putting this fundraiser together. I am truly eager to hold these books in my hands.

The interview has been posted. It went through quite a bit faster than expected and Rosa was very gracious to do it. I hope you all enjoy. http://reviewordie.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/an-interview-with-don-rosa/

Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview with the forum! It was very well done and gave some great insight into the work of this important writer and artist.

Thanks a lot! I'll read it as soon as possible.

Jano:
Can't the deadline be pushed back in order to reach the $15000 target that would made it possible to print the books in a larger size?
Besides, some people may have missed it because they were / are on vacation.
Jano
No. The campaign goal and runtime (45 days in this case) had to be set in advance and can't be changed afterwards. However, it's still possible to preorder directly from me afterwards.
Jano
Olivier
How large will they be, now the $15000 goal has bene reached (please)?
Jano
I will check back with the printer to see what is possible as soon as I know the final amount.
The same question came in some hours ago in the comments section on Indiegogo, and here's what I replied then:
Quote:I??ll check back with the printer and will know all the details once I know the exact final amount. I hope we??ll be able to do the books in a somewhat larger size than A4 (which is already quite big, though). If this isn??t possible because it would cost way too much, the additional funds will be used to cover the currently heavily subsidized shipping costs (which will amount to between 3000 and 4000 Euro at least since there are ?? luckily! ?? so many international preorders).
Jano
Ok, guys, last 24 hours to preorder at http://www.indiegogo.com/donrosa are running! And yes, the bigger size will happen (for the PP book), and we'll also throw in free digital copies for everyone who ordered a package that includes the books.
