If you do a search on amazon.com with Gemstone as the publisher and search by newest publications first, you can see what Gemstone has planned to the end of 2008. And boy do they have some neat stuff!
On November 5, 2008, Gemstone plans on releasing The Carl Barks Collection Set 1 (Hardcover) for $150 and will contain 960 pages.
On December 24, 2008 Gemstone plans on releasing The Don Rosa Library Volume 1: 1987-1988 (Hardcover) for $39.95 and it will contain 208 pages.
The Walt Disney Treasures volume this year will be devoted to Mickey and contain Gottfredson's "Mickey Mouse in Death Valley" and Scarpa's "Chirikawa Necklace"
I would like to hear what others think of this news. I myself am very excited, even if my wallet and credit cards are a little upset! :) I am thrilled that Gemstone is finally publishing Barks and Rosa libraries!
Now the only thing left for Gemstone to do is start publishing a 3rd monthly prestige title. Yes, I know it has nothing much to do with this topic, but I can't help but asking for it in almost every thread! :)

Well, amazon.com is not imdb.com, which can be updated by anyone; amazon's information comes from the publishers, doesn't it? Anything may very well happen to delay and even prevent items from being released, but I suppose Gemstone were sure enough to inform amazon.

Or does amazon get its information other ways? From the services attributing ISBNs, maybe?
I have never thought about it.

I can't give many details about these projects yet, other than to confirm that for right now they're in the works. Plans have been known to change, though. Lars is correct: Amazon's listings often reflect projects (from all publishers) that may not ultimately come out as originally expected.
But at least you can see what we presently *want* to do.

The cover pictures at this point, by the way, are just quick "Americanizations" of similar volumes already published by Egmont. Our final editions may look very different (and may not be identical to Egmont's equivalents inside, either).

David, that is good enough for me for now! Yes, of course plans can change, publication dates may slide, etc. Just the fact though that Gemstone has definite plans to do them in the near future is the important thing. What exact date they are released on, what the total content is, etc. pales in significance to the fact that we should be getting Barks, Gottfredson, and Rosa Libraries!

Of course, please update us with *any* details *whenever* you can! :)

Hi. New to the forum. Thanks for the info on upcoming Barks Library set (even though I have 7 of the ten previous sets from Another Rainbow) and the Don Rosa Set. I'm In! I have placed my advanced orders with Amazon. Can't wait for the Gottferdson hardback to come out in August. As for a third title from the glorious Gemstone, we can keep hoping. As it is, I am colecting the first run of Mickey Mouse and Friends, but would be very happy to see a third title. -Mykal

This is great news. I will definitely buy these sets.
But why is the Don Rosa book coming out on 24 December? They'll be missing out on a lot of potential Christmas sales.

We all know that Gemstone *wanted* to do some black & white Shonen Jump-style books last year... and those didn't end up happening, did they? Or take the Scandinavian Carl Barks Collection: it was on Egmont's drawing board for almost *ten years* before it came out.

I've visited Amazon's website many times over the years, and I know that publishing dates, prices and contents information on upcoming publications often change before the publications are out. Why not postpone jumping up and down with joy until we at the very least have an official press release from Gemstone stating that they will indeed publish these projects at some specific date?
