Nice drawing, Jonathan, by the way :)
WB
Actually Olivier - it does stand for Warner Brothers. That was my nickname all throughout college - created by a roommate - because of my drawing style and it remains so among a lot of my closest and oldest friends today who either call me WB or Dub for short.
If it makes it easier - just call me Jonathan or Dub. Everybody else does. :)
As for the drawing, I can do better. That was just a doodle (a rough doodle >>). I want to practice on my models (for instance, Dan should be rounder in the belly) and really develop a style that is my own, but borrows from my favorite parts of Gottfredson/Scarpa/Cavazzano - my three favorite Mickey artists. I'm very expressive, loose, and detailed about my artwork. I use a lot of facial expressions and poses and experiment a lot, and I have a fondness for blacks and shadows without overdoing it but I've heard Egmont is *VERY* picky and traditional which worries me about my chances there. Sometimes I think that guys like William Van Horn and Don Rosa would never have gotten the chance to work there had they started at Egmont first instead of Gladstone/Disney. But I wonder where my career will take me if it's meant for me or if it isn't...
Who knows? Life's full of surprises.
Maybe one day I'll post more stuff given time.
Olivier
I do hope you can post more-- I don't see any personal site in your profile. :(

You are ABSOLUTELY correct! Not only would Van Horn and Rosa never have been ble to work for Egmont if they had applied there first,-but Carl Barks wouldn't have passed the inking test. he MAY have passed the penciling test, but then, some other inker would have changed his lines. Yes, we'd like to see more artwork from you. Maybe we could start a "fan artwork" thread, as we have on mcdrake.nl?

I see Emile Eagle (and have used him) as a more rounded, Barks-type character than the way Murray drew him:

I'd really like to see a fan art thread (since you and WB are awsome at drawing) or maybe just one big "fan media" thread for people who aren't big artists but still do other great stuff like videos, computer art etc. I don't know a lot about Egmont but, are they the company that says Ludwing vonDrake is dead!! :(

No, they say that Ludwig Von Drake is "dead" in *their* stories. In other words: Egmont's writers and artists are not allowed to use Ludwig in stories they make for Egmont. But Ludwig is still used in stories by other publishers, such as the Italians. And Egmont do publish those stories in Scandinavia, Germany etc.

This was wrong, because the story is already printed (in the Scandinavian Carl Barks Collection #28). If someone is interested, it has got the code D D 2004-013, but we haven't got it in Inducks yet.

I had thought someone had told me that Daan had already finished it. I can't wait until it is published in Scandinavian regular comic books, so it can, afterwards, finally be printed in The Netherlands and USA.

I don't have the money (or the space) to buy the Danish Carl Barks collection. I will only get one volume 18, 19 or 20 (which I will have contributed to). I hope I won the lottery (so to speak), and it is Volume 18. But, even so, when I read the Danish, I can only understand what's generally going on, and thus, miss the jokes. So, I'd still want a version in a language I can really read and enjoy it.

As stated before, we need a single volume high-quality publication of all Daan Jippes' "recreations" of Barks stories (after he finishes all of them).

Quote from user: cacouRobb, if that's OK with you, I'll add your interesting scan to the Queen of the Apple Festival on COA
Cacou:-Here is the cover drawing I drew for my version of the story. Unfortunately, my poor inking stiffened the characters quite a bit. You can contact me at <(Email removed)> for details and the rest of the story:

Thank you for the scan, Rob.
I am not sure if it's wise uploading more scans to that Barks story, as you said, since these scans are about another project.
As for adding *your* story to Inducks, did it get a code? (Was it for Holland or Denmark?)

My story did NOT get a code, as it was NOT BOUGHT by either publisher (although it was submitted to both). I didn't suggest uploading more than one page, only that the one page is usually the first page of the story, and you now have Page 8, rather than Page 1. Also, I thought you might like to see the cover idea I drew for it. My offer to send you scans of the complete story was only for your personal interest, as COA only uploads one page of each story.

Yeah...Don Rosa would have liked to use him in his own comics, but his editor(s) didn't like Ludwig and wouldn't allow it. It was also Rosa who suggested that Ludwig married Matilda McDuck, thus officially making him Donald's uncle; but Egmont put the kibosh on that idea, too. A lot of Rosa fans liked the idea, though, and have held to it since then; it's even reflected in some of our fanfics. :)

According to the cartoons and comics, Ludwig is Donald's uncle, so it's already official. And, from what I've heard, in the TV cartoon "Kids is Kids" it is established that Ludwig is unmarried.
