Topic: Favorite cover?

I hope this thread has not been posted before, but all I could find was an old one focusing on Scrooge covers, so there.

First of all, I look up to anyone who manages to draw good covers. It often is very hard to pack all the action into a vertical box, while keeping the composition right, the gag clear and the drawing lively. I tried it a few times but horribly failed so far.

I can give a long list of favorites, but here's my absolute number one winner:

Unfortunately I don't own this issue! I'd frame it and stare at it in awe all day!!

Most of my favorite covers were drawn by Jippes, I'm especially fond of the ones he did in this round, non-comics style. They remind me a lot of the amazing insigna and posters Hank Porter drew in WW2. (He'd be my favorite Disney artist if I only knew more of him, but that is a whole different story-) Actually they look exactly like it, which is a good thing ;) This style is less suitable for long comics but for covers it's the very best, in my opinion.
Another cover artist worth mentioning is Ulrich Schröder, look him up on inducks sometime.

I'll post some more of my favorites if anyone's interested. There's loads of wonderful artwork on the shelves!

My fave cover artist is Daniel Branca:

My fave cover is possibly "Sheriff of Bullet Valley" by Barks.

Since this task is so mind-boggling, I'll have to simply throw out what comes to mind.

I would have to say that mine would be the "King of the Klondike" by Rosa. Interesting fact about this cover is that I have a 24" x 36" vinyl poster of this cover that I had made at Kinkos. Of course I had to secure permission from the Walt Disney Company but the poster is totally awesome, I also have in the same size, the last page of Rosa's 12 part series (the full page of Scrooge in his bin with thought bubbles about his life surrounding him).

I like too many great covers to choose one. Most of them were drawn by Carl Barks, Daan Jippes, and Walt Kelly, -with a few drawn by Daniel Branca, Tony Strobl, and Michel Nadorp.

A Donald comic from Thailand was just added to inducks. I think this must be my favorite cover ..among the worst I've seen :)
The cover is made by traced art from "The Black Moon" by William Van Horn. Under you can compare the cover with the original drawings. It looks like they have faxed Van Horns art and then made a copy of a copy of a copy... and in the end got a nice result worth putting on the cover.

Ha ha ha...
This is absolutely horrible.

Even I could do that...better !

Good God, that should be burned!

That's really bad! I didn't know that there are such covers from Disney somethere.. Thanks for posting!

That angry red splash of ink in the middle is what makes it - as if the "artist" suddenly realized how awful the tracing was and just threw a bottle of red ink at it. :) Then someone decided to use it.
