Why didn´t they use the original cover?

It´s very funny to compare.

I couldn't say what my one favourite BARKS cover was. There are--as it is with HIS stories--too many that are too good. I can say, however, that I prefer HIS (adventure) story-related covers to gag covers. Gag covers hardly ever have made me laugh as long as the the "gag" was not really, really good. Among the adventure covers of Barks I like the one he drew in the late 40s and early 50s much better than those for HIS late Uncle Scrooge titles. These late ones often show just elements of the related story arranged in a somehow a bit slack and spiritless way, while the older covers used to be clearly more concentrated, intensive and expressive.
I also don't like the oversized heads BARKS was forced to give to the Ducks on the covers with the time. Odd. Twisted. Ugly. Damned "the larger the conks are, the better the comics will sale!" obsession of the editors!
I don't really like Rosa as a cover artist too much. The known weaknesses of his usual panel artwork--the drawings being stiff, static, overcrowed, unbalanced, dis-proportioned--comes too much through in a disturbing way in the larger covers for my taste. Rosa covers for Rosa stories are okay, certainly, but I don't really want to see Rosa covers for BARKS stories as Rosa drew many. It simply doesn't really fit together. I like, however, Jippes quite much as a cover artists, also his covers for BARKS stories. Wonderful stuff, that.

I'm a huge fan of Branca-covers, especially in Norwegian Donald Duck & Co around late 70s-early 80s (the reason I'm specifying Norwegian both has to do with the fact that I'm Norwegian, but also with the fact that other countries from the same period tended to have a lot of posters, advertisements etc that kind of ruins the cover imo ).
Very gag in style, but absolutely beautiful.

I like Walt Kelly's cover, especially with the colours from the WDC in the Forties and early Fifties!

In Holland they've used the first page of Barks' "Vaction Time" once as a cover. The result was nice.

It's an excellent cover. But it's missing a nephew.

Donald wasn't on the cover for Uncle Scrooge Adventures #27 because he didn't participate in the adventure. He spent most of the story being glued to the TV.

He spent the ENTIRE story glued to the TV. TV programmes mentioned:
"Cop Squad": Dick Savage has a high-speed gun fight with some crooks and his car flips and flips and bursts into flames.
"Sea Search": Mike Savage has a high-speed harpoon fight with some crooks and his minisub flips and bursts into flames.
"Gunsmog": Matt Savage has a high-speed knife fight with some crooks and his horse flips and bursts into flames.
"??????": Buck Savage has a high-speed space fight with some astro crooks and his comet flips and bursts into flames.

I really like a lot of Pat Block's covers, and some of Don Rosa's Donald and Mickey (or Mickey and Donald?) covers are a lot of fun. But my all time favorite is the cover of Donald Duck #280. I was really excited when the issue came out and love everything about it.
