I have Donald Duck #280 and it does have a good cover except on my copy it does not say opening number. I think the over cover Don Rosa did for Donald and Mickey was issue 29.

These are the ones I found in my collection. At the time, I didn't notice the actual titles of the books - my mistake in assuming that they were all D&M.

Okay I realize that he did a few covers for Walt Disney's Comics and Stories. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

The most ingenious cover ever, a true delicacy:

"Cover Conflict": Coolwater Savage has a high-speed art fight with some Morequack crooks and his pencil flips and flips and bursts into flames.

Oh I forgot that he did a cover for Uncle Scrooge with Mickey Mouse on it. He also did the cover for Walt Disney Giant #5 except for Mickey who was drawn by Russel Schroder but Rosa drew the Ducks though.

Quote from user: Dutch Duckfan Down Under"??????": Buck Savage has a high-speed space fight with some astro crooks and his comet flips and bursts into flames.
Name that TV show! I suppose it could be "Buck Savage in the 25th Century", given the name of its protagonist. "Galaxy Quest" is a strong contender. Or maybe "Space Hike", which has the same amount of syllables as "Cop Squad", "Sea Search" and "Gunsmog".

It's weird that they have the same last name Savage. Is that a common name in the Duck Universe?

No??IMHO, its use here was just an indication that these characters are all supposed to be nearly-identical, stereotypical TV tough guys.

I remember reading somewhere, long ago, that on the early Gemstone Rosa covers that did have Mickey and Donald on them, the Mickey models were redrawn by Russel Schroeder because they originally had pie-eyes instead of his modern ones. This was probably because someone somewhere objected to something. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but it would make since seeing as how the early ones used don't have pie-eyes but the later ones nearer the end of the run do.

"Savage Conflict": Same-Old Savage has a high-savage fight with some savage crooks and his savage sameyness flips and savagely bursts into savage flames... savagely.

Yeah I guess that Don Rosa planned for it to be that way. I didn't know Gemstone made covers with Donald and Mickey on them that were drawn by Don Rosa.
