Quote from user: Lars JensenQuote from user: Zacharias ZorngiebelI wanted to post this earlier, but I simply forgot: Thank you, Mr. Lars Jensen, for such an excellent revival of Ludwig von Drake in Egmont-produced Comics. I am really happy to see him back again in German "Micky Maus" after such a long time. The storie's German name is "Schnitzeljagd" and its Story Code is D 2008-041. It appears in Micky Maus 42/2008 with art by Maximino. I can't find it in INDUCKS yet. Hopefully it will appear in Comics and Stories soon, so that Ludwig's quite big fan club will be contented as well. It's really fun to read.
You're welcome, Zacharias, and thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. And I thought Maximino did an excellent job of drawing Ludwig.

For now, this will be the only story with Ludwig Von Drake. Egmont is waiting to see how readers and publishers respond. So if you or anyone else out there want Egmont to use Ludwig in future stories: Write your publisher, and let them know!

Quote from user: Roger NorthLet Me Get This Straight Egmont allows artists to use Ludwig in their stories? It's too bad they couldn't have done that while Don Rosa was still writing stories.
Roger, they didn't decide to bring Ludwig back until January this year. And note that it's only one story. For now, anyway.

Thanks for letting me know Lars.

Just a question: Are you sure his name is "von Drake" and not "van Drake"?
I have to ask this, because I mention him briefly in my fanfic, and I want it to be correct.

Actually, it's "Von Drake".

Outch... Okay, I take your word for it.

He has the Dutch "van" in his Dutch name: "Otto van Drakenstein".

His name is Raptus von And in Denmark. Scrooge is Joachim von And. Are they supposed to be brothers, cousins, or uncle and nephew, in that country?

Here is another drawing of him I've drawn:

I don't know. One of our Danish members might be able to answer that question. But aren't they supposed to be brothers-in-law (as in Ludwig is married to Scrooge's sister)?

And I love your fanart. I wish mine was half as good.

Actually according to Don Rosa Ludwig is Scrooge's brother in law by being married to Scrooge's sister Matilda. Whether you choose to believe that is up to you. I however agree with Don Rosa.

I've never seen it addressed in any Danish publication, Rob. Both are uncles of Donald, but that's as much as I know. (Based on published stories I have read.)

He's Austrian, so it would definitely be "von Drake". Though of course in comics all over the world his name goes through a lot of changes. :)

Thanks for your help!

I always liked the old television version of Von Drake. They went with more of a psychologist approach, rather than the inventor/scientist angle that has been used in recent years.
I think you strengthen the character by modeling him after the know it all/long winded professor we all know from college, rather than a character in the "Madcap Inventor" mold.
On a side note, ever since I was kid, I always thought he looked EERILY similar to Scrooge. Especially in the animated shows where Disney colors Scrooge's whiskers a darker gray.

I just made this - my second Ludwig von Drake today/ever. And I decided that I like the character. My version knows everything about paintings! Is that OK? I also gave him spats, because I thought they suited the character well.
The ones who are smarter than the smarties could find out which painting he is looking at.

Mooi tekening, David(Bruno)! Welkom! I like your Daisy Duck on McDrake.NL as well.

Thank you! I prefer the Daisy! I never draw them, but I thought let's do it now! Now or never!
