What convention are you going to?

Last I heard, he had 11"x 17" full color prints that he would sign. I have one, and it's really nice.
I live about an hour from there. I may head up.

It's good to hear that Mr. Rosa is still doing conventions, despite his health problems and retirement! Though I've never met him personally, I've yet to hear one person say a negative thing about his interaction with his fans at cons.

Several months ago Don Rosa was at a comic con in Yorba Linda, California, about a half hour from where I live. I knew him from a long time ago and we used to correspond through the mail about collecting Uncle Scrooge figures. I went to see him. I didn't even know if he'd remember me at all but he treated me like a long lost friend. He invited me to join him at his table and I was there all day visiting him and meeting a lot of fellow duck collectors.
I can't begin to tell you how nice Don was to everyone who dropped by. He took time to visit and talk to everyone who waited in line to see him. It was really cool! He would sign any comic or book they brought with them that he wrote a story in. Some people even handed him a pile of his comics and he signed them all. He gave them a choice of what color ink they wanted and decided with them where the best place was to sign. This was all free. As if that wasn't great enough, he would do a free drawing for anyone who wanted one (which was almost everyone who came by!).
You'd just tell him what you wanted and give him a piece of paper or a comic backing board and Don would draw one of his characters in black ink for you. I asked him to draw Helper (the light bulb character) for me and he suggested I should have him also add Gyro which he did. Someone else had him do a duck drawing for a friend who worked at Starbucks. I don't remember the exact drawing, but I remember Don cleverly changing the coffee cup in the drawing from Starbucks to Starducks.
Don Rosa also had a huge selection of color posters displayed for sale. When you bought them he would sign them for you. They are really nice! There were comic covers from Don's stories and also the ducks as super heroes on comic covers. For instance, there was Donald lifting a car dressed as Superman on an Action cover. In addition, there were also posters of some of Don's non-cover drawings. I can't remember exactly what the price was, but they were around $20 or so. If you bought three or four, something like that, you got an extra one free. There was absolutley no pressure to buy anything at all, though, and you could just come visit and even get a drawing. He sold a lot of bunch of posters, though, because you can't help but really want them!
There was also a raffle at the convention for different artwork through out the day. You were given a ticket when you paid to go in. You could also buy additional tickets. One of the prizes was a really nice colored picture Don had drawn of Donald Duck.
I made some really nice friends while I was there who I look forward to seeing again. In addition to the drawing he did for me, like everyone else, I had Don sign a few of my favorite books. I got to see Don and talk about my favorite ducks all day, look for missing issues at the dealers, and it was a day I won't ever forget.
Don had all kinds of hassels dealing with a big snow snow storm getting to the convention from Louisville, Kentucky. I kidded him that it took me almost a half hour to get there. But the truth is, if you enjoy his stories as much as I do, even if it takes 3 1/2 hours, definitely go and meet him. You'll have a BLAST!!

Awesome stories everybody! I am very excited to meet him and tell of my appreciation for his work.

I met him at Dragon*Con last fall and it was great! :) He spent a lot of time talking with me and had no problem with autographing multiple items. He had a lot of prints available for sale and would personalize them for you if you want.
