Quote from user: Patrick HanifinDoes anyone know how tall the Yukon Scrooge will be or even have a rough idea? I'm very curious!
The page has been updated. The figure will be approximately 20cm/7.87in high.

Thanks, Charlie Brown. That's pretty good size. I was hoping it would be that big.

It is great reading all of these posts about Don Rosa and his convention interactions.
I have known Pat Hanifin's name for many years, as we are both long time Barks and Rosa Duck fans.
I am sure I have corresponded with Pat, just not recently.
As for Don's 2011 Convention Plans in the United States,
Don's invitations include:

March 25-27 Orlando
March 26-27 Kansas City
(Invited to both -- he'll need to pick one of those two)

May 13-15 Detroit

May 21-22 San Jose

May 26-29 Phoenix
(Maybe Both) (Might Drive)

June 3-5 Charlotte (A Great Show)

July 21-24 San Diego (just as a comics buyer, no booth)

Aug. 20-21 Baltimore (A Great Show)

Sept. 2-5 Atlanta

What has been said about Don at shows is true.
He will sign most anything you bring that he actually did the story/art.
He often laughs when someone asks if he created Uncle Scrooge.
Even though it is over 60 years ago and Don is not yet 60 himself.
Or when someone asks him to sign a Scrooge comic from the 50's when Don was in Grade school. (Some people aren't realistic, or their math is really bad)
Don very much enjoys talking to fans, and signing things, but has been personalizing what he signs these days. So when you see a chopped sketch on Ebay, that is a sketch he personalized and the person promptly put it on Ebay.

I am very much hoping the Mr. Rosa visits Kansas City this year. It is always such a great pleasure to meet with him and have him sign books, posters, etc. If you get a chance to meet him, don't pass it up. He is cordial and is very willing to discuss a variety of topics.

If Don doesn't do anything closer to home, I may make the trek to Detroit.....
Edit: No, I won't. Just realized that's the same weekend as the Cincinnati Old-Time Radio & Nostalgia Convention.

I may go to see him in Detroit in May. I was kind of hoping he'd be back In Dayton for the Gem City Con again. (closer to me,) It's worth the drive to see him.
Funny, when i met Don last year, I mentioned that I got my start into the world of reading Uncle Scrooge because of my exposure to Ducktales in the late 1980's and he quickly made a very clear point to me that Ducktales was not the original concept of Scrooge and his stories were nothing of the same. I really only mentioned it because it got me my inspiration/start in reading Disney comics which happened to be the current issues he was doing at the time for Gladstone and Disney and I think he kind of took it personal because so many people confuse the two concepts.
Honestly, though, by the time I had met Don, I had collected the full run of Uncle Scrooge and had all of the released seasons of Ducktales and absolutely knew there was a huge difference but I just smiled and admired the sketch he was drawing me. :)

I went to both Dayton and Detroit earlier this year, and while the Detroit shindig was bigger, I found the Dayton one to be a much better experience overall. Maybe I'll give Detroit a miss and hit Baltimore in 2011. There's a sufficient window between it and the start of the Fall semester.

Duck Tales is a seperate entity when it comes to most Scrooge Comic Readers.
With No Donald, and numerous other characters that are not part of the Bark's Universe, I know Don usually cringes at shows when someone talks Duck Tales. It is like someone telling Barks how much they enjoyed Donald comics from the Donald Duck cartoons. Though Barks worked briefly on Cartoons at Disney, the Duck universe really evolved and became so much more that a squacking Duck, under Barks. I guess everyone has a starting point, but for most of us Old Scrooge fans, it is NOt Duck Tales.
