Sorry, and I completely agree with you. I was just trying to explain how, while they may have traditionally appeared in Disney-licensed comics, Disney no longer has claim to them, even though they did once.

Hello Everybody!
I am new to this list and I just got in the first digest. I must say I
am impressed that even Don Rosa posts here as this is really a
good opportunity to get real insider info.. I love the work the artists
do (I am more into the Ducks.. don't like Mickey that much!)..
However I am not sure if this is off-topic and allowed here on this
list but I bought the recently here in germany and Austria published
"Disney Klassiker in Kunstleder".. they were pretty hard to get as
they are only distributed in Germany and here in Austria (esp.
where I live (in the West) there is not much of a comic Market..
However I am missing Vol. 8 (Goofy der Lebenskuenstler) in this
series and it's impossible to obtain here.. I am trying since 4
months now and no luck at all.. maybe somebody can give me a
hint on where to get that last volume so I can call the whole Series
my own.. It has to be in Mint Condition...
Thanx and sorry if this is not the usual thing to post here.. I won't
do it anymore if it causes trouble...

A friend asked me to translate into Italian Carl Barks' <Ode to the Disney
Ducks>. In fact I let my daughter do the translation (she's a lot apter
than me for this stuff...) but that was a good chance to read carefully the
poem. So I noticed some VERY INTERESTING points.
<The ducks show us that [...]
black eyes given in revenge
keep hatred burning bright>
This nowadays is a lot much more than common sense. I can't tell how much
Unle Carl knows about the war in Kossovo, but surely he is having a point
there: YOU JUST CAN'T REPLY TO WAR WITH WAR. This will only <keep hatred
burning bright>.
<So when our walks in sun or shade
pass graveyards filled by wars>
reminds us what WAR does to men... even when it's called with another
name... Don't worry about names, my friends... just worry about BOMBS and
deaths...

La videocassetta di Scarpa mi fu data da lui stesso (che l'aveva preparata
appositamente per l'occasione) nel 1989, dopo la pubblicazione del "blue
book" e la memorabile mostra di Prato. Una copia a me, una a Luca Boschi e
una ad Andrea Sani (non mi ricordo se ne dette una anche ad Alberto
Becattini, comunque a nessun altro). Ci preg=F2 di non darla in giro, perch=

parte del materiale - nella fattispecie soprattutto The King Lion - era (c)
Rai Corporation. Nei dieci anni intercorsi, non l'abbiamo mai fatta=
circolare.

I know that at least he is the author of the excellent book "Wer Ist Carl
Barks?" (which I might just add is NOT a book where you try to find Carl
Barks from the inside pages as a friend of mine "cleverly" suggested...;-)
He has also painted the cover to this book, so supposedly he is an artist?
I warmly recommend this book to any Barks fan if you can find it -
although it's in German there are very few text pages; mostly it's just
drawings from Barks's panels.

Helnwein is a rather successful Austrian contemporary painter and a big fan of Barks' work
as well. A famous quote of his is that from Donald Duck he has learned more than from any
school he's ever been to.
Anyway, he has also organized an exhibition of Barks' oil paintings in Germany some years
ago and has published a very nice book called 'Wer ist Carl Barks/Who is Carl Barks', a
collection of Barks' best comic book images. He has also painted Donald Duck some times in
oil and I guess that's why he is in the catalogue. He has never done a comic book,
