Quote from user: OlivierOh, and I like your point on anthropomorphized characters eating other anthropomorphized characters being akin to anthropophagy, Timo.
Thanks. I might add this illustration, I created for an article about the subject. I guess this could also be in fan-fic-art thread also, but serves well in here. It points out my idea. If Zeke hunts and eats pigs, why not also ducks? ;) I hope it's not too disturbing image. http://www.perunamaa.net/ankistit/zeke.gif

Actually, Big Bad Wolf tried to eat Donald Duck in http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=W+WDC+115-03 .
By the way... Who's the Don you dedicated your drawing to? I'm guessing Donald Duck or Don Rosa... :)

Yes, I have read that story. It was weird.
I'm referring to Don Rosa. He had a picture in some old fanzine, that had Grandma Duck feeding duck (it also had the very same thought bubble), I just added Zeke to emphasize the problem with overly anthropomorphized animals.

I love it!
:D
The duck obviously reminds me of Rosa's very nice drawing of the Ducks turned ducks in Scrooge's office.
Appropriately, the story your refer to, Lars, was published in an issue of WDC&S sporting this cover by Walt Kelly:

Walt Kelly did that? POGO POSSUM'S Walt Kelly?? I didn't know he'd been a Disney comics artist! :) He was a great cartoonist, he was. Nice cover, and thanks for sharing it! :)

I see what you mean, though "maudlin" comes to my mind rather than "controversial". For the most part, I'm pretty okay with the subject (maybe I'm a "closet" goth, I don't know); though the bits about anthros eating non-anthros are starting to make me wince a little (yet surprisingly, they're also making me hungry). :)
I'm sorry if it's bothering you though, Rog...maybe you can start a thread about something much more
cheerful, huh? :)

At present, we're planning to reprint that story?along with a number of other slightly "reality-warping" and self-referential Disney stories?in WDC&S 700 early next year.
William Van Horn's cover ought to bring a smile to anyone who's enjoying this thread:

I loved many of Walt Kelly's covers back in the day. Shocked me too when I realized back in the 90's that the guy who had done Pogo had also done some Disney Comics work. Really good stuff.
Also, Dave I commented on that cover over the weekend but I absolutely love it. XD
