I sampled Lost Girls (a friend had a copy) and it really was NOT my thing, despite being a huge Alan Moore fan. I highly recommend Tom Strong for fans of good old fashioned adventure comic stories. Tom Strong is probably my favorite Moore work.

Quote from user: Roger NorthExcuse Me Will are you related to Carl Barks?
Did Carl Barks have Austrian relatives that were still in contact with his family? As far as I remember, he told me his ancestors came from England, and some from continental Europe, but his close family was all in USA.

I suppose a US relative could move to Austria. But I never heard of a "Cousin Will", from Carl, Garé or Carl's granddaughter, Patti Lutzenheiser.

Well Robb. It's a common mistake. I asked him because he had the same last name so I thought that there could be a possiblity that they are related. Maybe he is. Maybe he's not.

That's not my real name. I combined my favorite comic book artists Will Eisner and Carl Barks as a pseudonym for my internet activities. ;)

Thanks for telling me Will. I forget that most people don't use their real names. I'm probably one of the few that does.

Ha ha, my pseudo-name would be much to long, if I'd send homage to all of my favourite artists...

B.t.w. I'm Jan Erik Hedberg - pleased to meet you!

I read a lot of Danish comics (that is when I have some sparetime, though) AND Europian stuff - like XIII, Blueberry, David B. and classics like Asterix, Tintin, Blake and Mortimer, Lucky Luke, Modesty Blase and the like...

Will Eisner, Frank Robbins and in my teens Corben, Crumb, Shelton, Rand Holmes and a lot of Heavy Metal!

I use my own name, as (it seems) Louis Lane, JeffT and MV Blair do, just looking at this one thread (almost 1/2). But you are correct. Most people are probably wise to keep their anonymity.

I seem to have heard the name "Louis Lane" somewhere - or you may call me Clark Kent!

Olivier is my true first name.
As a teacher & researcher, I would rather not have a search for my name turn up thousands of harmless but uninteresting messages from a dozen message boards, so I have never used my last name.
Roger North
So Some People do use their real names other than me. That is so cool.

Indeed, my real name is Jeff. I used to use my last name online regularly, but have opted to stop the practice for privacy reasons. I suppose online privacy is really a myth with all the data "out there", but I might as well do what I can. I wouldn't want to use a total pseudonym, but I'm quite happy to limit it to my first name (and my wifes first initial, since "Jeff" by itself is seldom available when registering on forums. :))

Sadly this fine book has not been printed much in my country (Norway), it was an important part of the weekly book "Tempo" years ago, but only a few albums saw print. I bought some from Denmark and I miss the detective!

Sadly I don't read French or I would most certainly imported the full collection! :)

I am a big fan of French/Belgium comics!! Favorite? Hard to say, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Blueberry, Tintin etc, etc!! They are all different and "masters" in their own field!!

I recently discovered Alan Moores 'Tom Strong' at the Copenhagen Komiks.dk-convention, and I highly recommend that too. Its an intelligently humouristic pastiche of the 50ies-like space-adventure comics, beautifylly drawn by several artists. Just got my hands on af few #s from 2001, fans of Wally Wood wil especially like the 'Space Family Strong' in # 14.
Will Barks
I discovered Tom Strong a few weeks ago too, after I finished Promethea and was hungry for more Moore ;). The first collected book is fantastic, but the second got me a bit bored from time to time because it's the same concept repeated over and over again in every chapter. Still I prefere Tom Strong to all the other superheroes out there.

Any Fecchi fans around here apart from David G and me? Massimo has started a blog in which he presents his own series "Odysseus". It dates from the mid-90s, right after his Fix & Foxi period, and was published in three albums in Germany in 1996/97 (with a fourth one in the making at the time, as far as I know). Unfortunately, it didn?t sell, so he turned to Disney comics right afterwards. In the blog it's available in English, German and Italian and worth a look:
