I seem to recall earlier promotions/articles about the show referring to Goofy as a widower, though it was never mentioned in any episodes.
I don't know if that's how Disney positioned the series when promoting it, or if it was something that was just assumed.

Many Disney movies, including Bambi, Frozen and The Lion King, involve the death of a parent, and in several other Disney films, including Snow White, Cinderella, The Rescuers and Beauty & The Beast, one parent or both parents are presumed to be dead, but I can't recall any Disney comic strips or comic books (not counting adaptations of the aforementioned movies) in which a parent's death was shown or even implied. We should ask longtime Disney archivist Dave Smth if the Walt Disney Company has an official explanation of Glory-Bee's disappearance, although I'm guessing they do not. Neither death nor divorce would be acceptable. She simply ceased to exist. *Poof!*

I believe that its in the pilot where its heavily implied that Goofy is a widower.
And anything connecting Glory Bee (created by Walsh and Gottfredson, mind you) to Max is purely 1000% headcanon. We dont know who Max's mom is and most likely never will anytime soon, the same way Peg doesnt exist in the classic continuity or that Pete has gone 100% straight. There's also Trudy (still being used today), Zenobia (largely as forgotten as Glory Bee), etc etc.

Maybe Goofy had 2 different wives and 2 different sons. I remember Goofy having a son and a wife in one or 2 '40s cartoons. THAT son didn't look anything like Max. The other son was unnamed, as was his wife.

Well, I'm not sure how much canonical stock we want to put into those old cartoons ... after all, they also gave Donald a son at one point.
