Okay, since I don't have the schedule yet, what I'd like to do is propose a
new tradition.
Now, I don't know when you all will be arriving, but I will be in San Diego
on the Second to actually see some of the city before moving to the
convention. So, if this is like most conventions, it will open around Noon?
If so, how about we all meet for breakfast the morning of the Fourth, then
mosey, stroll, meander, waddle over to the convention center for the start of
the con? Maybe we could even organize a movement, to show the comics
community how strong Disney readership is! Maybe, as the tradition
continues, we could hold a breakfast banquet, to feed anyone who wants to
have breakfast before the con?! Yeah!!

* The "Good Times" virus is a hoax. There is no such thing. (But
this warning itself is sort of like a virus. Warnings about it has
been spread around the net since 1994. For more information see the

World Wide Web.
* The Trojan horse in PKZIP300 is for real, even though the quoted
material about it wasn't absolutely accurate. But this is also somewhat
old. The more authorative warning about it from CIAC (Computer
Incident Advisory Capability) is from June last year and can be seen
in <URL:http://www.nha.com/ciac6165.html>.
Warnings like these can easily get out of hand and be spread in
mutated versions long after they were intended to be spread, causing
much unneeded anxiety, not to speak of all the repeated mail that
they, just as any chain letters, tend to generate. Be especially wary
of warnings that have no dates on them. How do you know if they still
are current?
But really it doesn't matter much if they are hoaxes or how correct
they are -- they shouldn't be on this list anyway. No message that

Just got the Disney Magazine. Interesting article on
Winnie-the-Pooh...does Disney now own all rights to the character, or only
the cartoon rights? How much does the Milne estate own at this point? (Not

they didn't seem to object to "Bambi Meets Godzilla."
As for the question of to what extent the characters in later stories
fit into those of their original movies, the most extreme instance has to be
TAIL SPIN. Anyone who tries to fit Baloo's adventures in those before, during
OR after those in THE JUNGLE BOOK would have my sympathy.
Finally, although it has nothing to do with Disney comics, I think the
loss of another veteran artist from another favorite series of my childhood
should be noted. Curt Swan, whose work on Superman spanned almost half a
century (from SUPERMAN #51 in 1948 to #114 (of the second series) in 1996)
died last week at his home. He was a favorite of many baby-boomers, myself
definitely included, and will be greatly missed. Thankfully, Carl Barks and
others of his generation are still with us.

I believe her first appearance was November 4, 1940 in the DD daily entitled
"Plowed Under" HD&L run in to tell Donald that a moving van has crunched
his hedge...Donald runs out into the yard angry (what else is new?) and
sees Daisy driving the van...he runs to get his clippers and mows down the
hedge for her...last panel has Don sighing with a "love heart" in a balloon
over his head.

Okay, on the evening of the Fourth, Friends of Lulu will be hosting a
reception for Marie Severin, so I can't meet anyone then.
However, I'd like to do the breakfast before the con, at Eight AM, so as to
allow enough time to relax, eat, talk, and then walk down to the convention
center.
Let me know if anyone here wants to do this, and I'll work out the logistics.
