The parents should also do something theirselves. "Everyone else watches
them, too." "Our kid is so smart he knows it's not real."

I must mention that it *is* possible (here at least) to market non-violent
TV series that sell so much merchandise and videos the parents don't stand
it. TV series based on Tove Jansson's Moomin characters
(Finnish/Japanese/Dutch or something production) don't have violent and
ugly plots, but kids here are so addicted they have to see them on video
all the time. Still they have to sell the merchandise junk...
Some study claims that kids have started to speak in the same way as the
Moomins. They speak better Finnish than people in general (BikerMice on the
other hand speak worse).

Lego has done that in Northern Europe.

I hope the Egmont and Disney censors make sure androids, cyborgs and
"improved" ducks and mice and other weirdos described don't find their way
to Disney comics.

anybody tell me .What the first comic of Daisy was. As to all 3 birthdays

Too bad if there won't be any Disney comics events in San Diego this
year. I hope there will be next year, as it's possible I will be
there then!

For those who'd like to meet each other: Why not just decide on a time
and place and take it from there? Torsten suggested that:

I think the schedule of events is available on SDCC's WWW pages. You
can for example reach them from the "upcoming" section of the Disney
comics pages even though there are no Disney comics events there.

Hey, no need to apologize! I didn't have anything to do with
the Bucky Bug story -- that was Mr. Gerstein's pride and joy,
so you'll have to redirect the kudos and brickbats his way.
What bothered me about the Bucky story was that it promised to
show what sort of critter the mysterious eyes in the shadows
belonged to, and then didn't follow through. Hey, I'm upset!
As for what I did do in that issue of WDC&S, I translated and
scripted the three-page Daan Jippes DDstory. However, some
lingering remnant of honesty compels me to correct the record:
the credits imply I _wrote_ the story, and I didn't. Also, my
title was originally "I Only Have Fries for You," and David
Gerstein thunk up the title that was actually used, "Banquet
Behind Bars," which is closer to the Dutch original (which
translates literally to something like "Potatoes a la Pokey").
And there's one goof, probably the fault of an incompetent
scripter in Arizona: the jail guard says it's after seven in
the last panel, but a barely visible clock in the BG seems to
be showing 6:50 or so.

Ah, but don't forget that Mr. Sivonen is in Finland. Gladstone
might not include the cardboard inserts in foreign subscriptions
to save on weight...?

I don't know if this is the same sort of thing, but I have a
sub to Anders And, the Danish Donald Duck weekly comic book.
Every issue includes a little insert bonus, like a small
sheet of Disney stickers or some such. About the first of
this year, I got a note from the publisher saying the
bonus freebies would no longer be included with copies
going overseas because of some ruling by the Danish post
office. Apparently, the freebies were now considered something
other than pure printed matter, which put the entire package
into a different and more expensive mailing category. So now
I get my copies of Anders And with the sticker sheets or the
pasteboard gameboards removed or never inserted in the first
place, even though the cover blurbs continue to insist they're
there. I don't particularly mind: I'm just a little amazed that
Anders And has to have regular free bonuses like that at all
to move copies on the newsstands of Denmark. (Is it a trap
Anders And backed into as a strictly temporary circulation booster
and now can't get out of because the readers have come to expect
a free prize for buying the comic, or is it something Gladstone
should look into?)

Hi!
I am a brasilian "lurker", but I will try to answer your curiosity:
Brasilian Disney Comics are kid stuffs. Most have 6 to 12 year of age. I
called Mr. Euclides Miaura, Art Editor of Disney Comics and he told me there
are 5 artists drawing to Editora Abril Jovem. Anyone drawn ducks or mice or
dogs. There are many stories with "Jose Carioca", a parrot from the movie
"The Three Caballeros". He will send me more information and I will send for
the digest, or for you, if you want.
I dont know how many brasilian people are on this mail list (Helo,
everybody! Help me!), but I read Disney comics since 1954. A couple of years
ago I stopped to read the brasilians one and started a subscription from
Gladstone, so I could read again the great Carl Barks. BTW, there are no
credits for the artists in Brazil, so I only have discovered Barks a few
years ago!

I have already send you the DC from Brazil, but they are in
Portuguese. The English editions I will send you latter, as I must buried
them from many box with aprox. 5.000+ comics. It will be a hard work!
