I don't remember having noticed a big difference in the coloring. I have
almost no recent issue of Picsou here, so I can't check the stories.
The "computerisation" of the coloring in "Picsou" is quite recent in fact.
The pin-up drawings are colored by Virginie Breham since the beginning
(who, she told me, uses something called "Paint Pro" or something like
that). The stories have been colored in a studio in Italy for several
years. Perhaps the difference is due to a different paper, or a different
ink. Could you describe some of these differences?

Here is some information about Finnish production of Disney comics,
that some might find interesting. It is sent to me from Harri Vaalio
(also known as Wallu), who has made such comics:
Here=92s some info about me drawing under Disney-label: In 1985 the
finnish publisher of Disney-comics, Sanomprint, asked me (and two other
fellows) to write and draw a five-page-story about Winnie The pooh. I
think they were not satisfied with the material that was coming from
Denmark. They wanted to produce pages also here in Finland. So I did th=

story and they took it (with the works of those other two artist) to US=
A
and the US.Disney said to go ahead with me. I had to draw my first stor=
y
again but then it was published in Finnish Winnie The Pooh magazine in
1986. After that I made ten more stories (4-8 pagers) to Finnish Winnie
(5 was printed in normal Winnie-magazine, 6 in smaller Winnie Activity
mag into which i also did some other drawins about Pooh, too). I believ=

they are never published elsewhere. The code they put in the first
picture begin with letters SF.

themselves out of harm Sanomaprint didn=92t fire me but turned me to
Gutenberg Hus.
Then I Write one storyline in english to Denmark and they said Go ahead.
I drew the story ( Winnie The Pooh goes Woozlehunting) and send it to
them, but after a long time they send me a letter in where they said
that sorry, but I wasn=92t drawing like Disneymaterial was supposed to
draw. They even told me that I draw in old american way, but they had a
new way (made in spain...). And Sorry but that=92s it, GOODBUY. They ne=
ver
paid me anything, and I was too angry to ask...
I really don=92t know what happened to my 12. Winnie The Pooh -story.

explainning booklet included.

$1000 for all ten sets, and if you preordered the complete series,

complete, but my dealings with Gladstone had shown that they were not
out to make a fast buck, so I took the plunge. I have not regretted
it.)

I could never find that Barks' "three cubic acres" as a measure of Scrooge's
cash ever had a traditional equivalent in the old Swedish comics from the
40's through 70's. It seems that various translators, and even the same
ones, rendered it differently (if at all) almost every time it occurred.
So when I began translating in the 80's, I tried to "start a new tradition".
I liked the geometrically impossible way of describing a HUUUUUGE amount by
mixing square and cubic measures like "cubic acres", so I did somewhat like
the Italian "cubic hectares", as Blasco told us recently. I used an outdated
Swedish square measure for farmland, not exactly equivalent to an acre but
reasonably close, and put a "cubic" in front. Swedish readers might
recognize the phrase "tre kubiktunnland pengar", or at least understand its
meaning.
I don't know when I first used this phrase, and I wouldn't say it happened
very often. Still, whenever "three cubic acres" comes up, and also some
other times when I find it fitting, this is what I write.
Now, the question was what happens when Italian stories using "three cubic

Today in Firenze a <press-conference with performances> was announced to
introduce the next Lucca Comics Convention.
So I went there eager to see the artists performe "live drawings" (and
hoping to have them performe at least one on my paper sheets...) but alas
the only performance (though nice) was by the famous Italian experts
Leonardo Gori, Luca Boschi and Alberto Becattini, who spoke about the
program of the next Lucca Convention.
