Hello, everybody, long time no see... :-)

I'm delurking for a while, just to join in the praises for this
rather special couple of authors, which I dearly love, too.
Most of the questions might have been answered already by now,
I'm a digest member and reading messages rather late, but here's
my 2 cents, anyway

Indeed. They're among the (very few) gems the Studio Program created,
it's a pity they're mostly unknown to the American public.
I would also recommend the zany stories of 00-Duck and Mata Harrier,
as well as the few featuring a short-lived character, Hustler Duck,
who should have earned a better fame, IMHO.

My favourite story is probably one where Fethry and Hustler "join forces"
to make Donald's (and Tabby's... I love Tabby :-) lives utterly
miserable...

what about everything that's never been published in Italy before ?

Joking apart, I can only heartily recommend the new series of
articles/reprints running on "Zio Paperone" since a few months
and titled "Gli Altri Paperoni" (Other Scrooges), and dealing
with "lesser" creators (quotation marks are, I believe, appropriate,
we're talking the likes of Jack Bradbury, Tony Strobl and, in
fact, Al Hubbard, among various others)

Is this a suggestion for the new American publisher ? :-)
I hope they'll take it into consideration, I would love
to read those stories in the original language they've been
written...

I seem to recall somebody mentioned a Fethry story, loong time
ago, but don't remember if it was ever identified...

The Inducks currently records a single S-Coded story by
Hubbard as reprinted in a *Western* comic, which is indeed
a Mickey and the Sleuth one, S 75163 "The Great Winks Robbery",
in Walt Disney Showcase 42, 1978, writer credit is Carl Fallberg.
It was also reprinted by Gladstone in Donald & Mickey 22.

Disney also reprinted S 75160 "The Return of Goofy da Vinci",
in Goofy Adventures 11, but credits given in the issue match
what we have in Inducks, which is Cal Howard/Al Hubbard/Steve
Steere.

But... er... I must admit I've never liked Hubbard's Mickey
much... except for a few Goofy stories, still in the mid-60s,
surely not this one... I could have sworn it was an average
Jaime Diaz studio product...

That's what history of publications indicates so far, but somebody,
still loong time ago, suggested Strobl's "Donald's Buzzin' Cousin",
which was published only in 1966 on DD 105, *might* have been written
and drawn before Hubbard's first, "The Health Nut", S 64008.

About the actual first publication of the latter being that in Topolino
#453, well, according to cover dates it *should* be, that's from 8/64,
while other currently known European reprints are from 1965 at least...
but we don't know about Australian publications, where Fethry was quite
popular, I understand.

But it is featured, search for the code, the Italian publication
hasn't been recorded yet (it will, hopefully soon, that's my job :-)

AMERICAN DISNEY COMICS INDEXES WANTED

The INDUCKS database is getting completer every day. For the USA comics,
only a few are missing. For most of the missing comics, we already guessed
most of the contents (e.g. from reprint information), but we need a
confirmation about the exact contents and the order of the stories in the
comic.

So anyone willing to help us with that: please contact me! If you mail me
which issues you can index, I can give you the info we already have, so your
task will be as easy as possible.
All I can return for that is eternal fame: you will be listed as an indexer
in the INDUCKS...

The most important comics we miss are listed below.
At the moment, we're especially interested in the "missing" Dell comics.

I've been following this list for a couple of months now, very
interesting. This is my first contribution to it.

I read that Don Rosa draws special covers for the Finnish edition Aku
Ankka. Does anyone know if those covers are available to see somewhere
on the web ? I have a scan of the cover for the "Dutchmans mine" and I
think that it is very good.

Why can't the Swedish Kalle Anka & c:o publish those covers ?
Do Aku Ankka have exclusive rights or what ?

I must be seeing things. The Dutchman's mine cover is not there. The Cutty
Sark cover *is*.

The earliest Fethry story I've found in an Australian Disney comic is X
4024 "Weaving and Ducking".
It was used (along with X 4038 and X 4034) in G338: "Donald meets FETHRY
DUCK" published in 1965.

I have that story, and it's *not by Hubbard*. Looks like early Jim Fletcher
art to me, but I'm not 100% sure.

BTW: *My* personal favourite S-coded story is S 65022 "A Mid Summer's
Nightmare" Kinney and Hubbard at their best!
