Yeah, I found it. And also on the cover. Is Aku Ankka the only place where
the cover will be? At least on their web pages, the cover wasn't in the
Scandinavian weeklies. And also, why didn't this week's Aku Ankka include a
preface to the story from you, have you stopped writing those or something?

DR's new story Forget it! came out today here in Finland with a great cover featuring
Magica de Spell, Donald and Scrooge.

I even tried checking out the code with a couple of UPC databases on the
web, hoping to say that the codes were actually those of, say, Acme Swofs,
but they didn't know this code. I don't suppose you remember from what
kind of product it was taken?

Well, there was a lot of information. Try google with "universal product
code" as keywords, to get the list of sites that I searched.
To bring this discussion back on topic, and since the last digest was
mostly about D.U.C.K.s, could someone tell me where was the D.U.C.K. in
the money bin story? There didn't seem to be many places in the splash
panel where it could be hiding, and I couldn't find it in those few places
that seemed like they could. What's more, there wasn't any reference
to it in the duckhunt pages, although there was one to the D.U.C.K from
"Forget it", which was discussed in the last digest.

Thanks! I'm thinking of adding a flipism guidebook cover jacket there, which
you can wrap around any book if it is just right size.
But I think there was no indication in Barks' story of what kind of cover it
has. I have to think of that.
What else barksian stuff there could be? Ideas? Suggestions? They cannot be

And, as always, the AA folks colored it very nicely! Good coloring makes a

out the many little details that many readers might miss and want to know
about. And it's when I get a chance, on the adventure/historical stories, to
confirm for any readers who might still not be sure that all the facts, no
matter how obscure or hard-to-believe, are completely authentic.
Actually, I don't recall -- they might have asked me and I told them that
there wasn't anything to write about in this sort of story... it's just a
quickie "gag" story. Easy to write and draw and some fast laffs, but not
much depth. The fact that when they're done I have nothing much to say about
'em is probably one reason the "gag" stories don't interest me so much.
But perhaps AA only asked me for the cover this time. I only wait to be
asked -- I don't suggest to publishers what they should or should not do.
I'm *so grateful* that I don't have to deal with all those decisions that
editorial staffs have to worry about day in and day out! I have the EASY
job!

For Marco's question: The Italian page was NOT a tracing of Strobl. It is the
lower 2/3 of a lead-in page to the first (untitled)story about the "exchange
students". It was printed only in black and white, and formed the inside cover
page. It was apparantly inked by someone other than Tony Strobl, or the inker
who inked for him at that time. It was inferior quality, as it did not match
the lines of Tony's pencils as much as those of the inner stories, and his
other printings of 1959-60. it is clear that the pencils must have been
Tony's, as the Duck in the lower left corner unmistakeably shows his style
(also, the Duck on lower right, but less so). The original chalk board was both
taller and wider, and was meant to show "School Safety Rules".
looking at these stories now, as an adult, I feel they are of poor quality, and
actually quite silly. If we were to produce a "Back to School" series now, I
am sure we would do a much better job of it. - Rob

Yes, this is one of the best hidden D.U.C.K.'s I've ever seen!
I used more than three minutes finding it,
and I'm an experienced D.U.C.K.-hunter! :-)
If you want another challenge, look at the pinup for Picsou #319.
