Thanks, Armando, for your post. Your theory that Il Gatto may have
been too ill-defined to be picked up and used by Pedrocchi's successors
sounds pretty plausible.

If Bartolomeo Circonlocuzioni was simply built to fill the role as "the
heroes' evil opponent", I can understand why the Italians didn't bother
to revive him after the War: They already had (Peg-Leg) Pete. I still
think this character can be useful, though. He just needs to be focused.

Here's something puzzling, though:

If you go onto COA and do a search for "Federico Pedrocchi", it seems he
drew some Minnie Mouse material in 1994 and 1995. Faulty indexing?

Indeed! I guess the indexer (Francesco, are you reading this?) used the
wrong abbreviation for Fabrizio Petrossi...

If I remember correctly Leach stated that the received lists with codes
and titles, but they used INDUCKS for extra information.

I guess they receive all they need but INDUCKS ads more interesting info
that is nice to have as well.

Gary Leach said a few digest ago that they use INDUCKS to help identify
the list of codes given by Egmont.

How did the other publishers select their stories *before* INDUCKS was
used or if they didnt use INDUCKS? Did they blindly select the codes? Or
was there ample information accompanying each code, like story title,
story artist?

Gosh, I guess I've been doing them for over 5 years. I think I did about 30
or more of them, then lost contact with the editor when he took over
publishing LE JOURNAL DE MICKEY also and didn't have time to plan ahead on
pin-ups, and now he's back to only working on PICSOU again so we went back
to work. So... that's 5 or 6 years?

They sure did, and if you're implying that the text that I wrote for that
calendar, as well as any texts for any of those annual Rosa Calendars, did
not prominently *state* that those pin-ups were originally done for France
(as well having my lavish praise for the French colorists), then some
translator/editor has been deleting those lines without my knowledge. I want
credit to go where it belongs! I don't want to take undeserved credit for
the excellent coloring work, and the calendar publishers should not take
credit for being responsible for the pin-ups. Aside from that, many of the
pin-ups need to be explained as to *why* they sometimes have odd themes, and
if my explanations of why I chose a certain idea to match the theme of the
PICSOU issue for which the pin-up was created, then that makes my judgment
look goofy, and that's a further reason the link to PICSOU should not be
deleted from my texts.
So, please tell me that you are asking that question without actually having
read the calendar texts, because if my references to PICSOU have been
removed, I want to know about it.
