Hi all,
I'm from Hamburg in Germany and read Disney comics since I'm six. I got my first German "Micky Maus" magazine, when I couldn't read it on my own (my parents read it to me). So I learned reading with Donald Duck :) My favorite author is - of cause - Carl Barks, but I like to read new stories as well. I have a subscription of the German "Donald Duck Sonderheft" and buy "Uncle Scrooge" from time to time. At the moment I'm waiting for a Barks Collection in English, like the German one (www.barks.de).
BTW: I also love Peanuts comics. That's why I have a no Disney username.

My name is Mathias Wennberg and I'm from Sweden. I'm a 100% Donald Duck fan and couldn't live without those wondeful disney comics (and films and series, but the comics is better). I have red Donald Duck comics since I was about 7 years old (so I have red them for 11 years now...) Many in my family is a Donald Duck fan, like my uncle and my mother's cousin, but I think I like it a little more than they do. What I really like is to study the Duck Universe and to make some "solutions" to the unsolved Duck-mysteries, you might call them.

I also like to draw my favorite Duck characters, like Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Daisy Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose, Gladstone Gander, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Grandma Duck, John D. Rockerduck and of course don't forget Slackjaw Snorehead (Flintheart Glomgold's nephew), but my favorite character is Cornelius Coot because I really like history and I think that he is one of the symbols of the history in the Duck Universe (and Duckburg).

My favorite artist is Carl Barks, but of course the other artist (like Don Rosa, Marco Rota etc.) is really good too.

I'm pretty late with my own introducktion, but here goes: I'm Lady Quackly, a 47-year old cartoon/comics fan living in Southern Cali. I'm crazy about animation and comics, Disney in particular. Having been a fan of such films as Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Great Mouse Detective, I'm also crazy about Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color and other "vintage" Disney shows (including the now-defunct Darkwing Duck and Ducktales).
I'm also a fan of the Disney Ducks, especially Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig von Drake. But after reading The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, I took a liking to Scroogey's ancestors, including Seafoam McDuck and Sir Quackly (which explains my nickname ;) ).
I read a lot of Disney comics as a child; and I'm not only discovering them again, but appreciate them even more than before. Now if only they still had the prices from my childhood... *wistful sigh*

I have just returned to Los Angeles, California (for my half year stay). We should get together some time. I live a few streets from Santa Monica. Where do you live? I am 60 years old (but a very youthful 60). I am a similar type of Disney fan as you, in that I grew up with Disney Comics and Disney movies. I'm familiar with a couple of Disney fans in the Southland, mainly in San Diego. I also have a Disney-loving friend who just moved to Santa Ana, but I haven't heard from her in months.

I live in Bakersfield (thank you for not laughing), roughly 2--3 hrs away from L.A. It's technically in the Central Valley but still considered part of Southern CA. I used to travel to the Southland quite a bit, but at present I'm as poor as the proverbial church-mouse; so it'll be quite a while before I'm back in that area again. But many thanks for your contact link! I'll tuck it away for any future reference. :)

Do you ever go to the Comic-Cons in the Southland, by any chance? One of my friends went to a Con in San Diego and actually met Alan Young, the voice of Scrooge!! :)

You've been to Scotland??? You lucky duck (no pun intended)! :) I've never been there, but I have eaten haggis---and like it. I first tasted it at a Rabbie Burns Supper held by the local Scottish Society I belong to. We also have our annual Highland Gathering & Games every April, and I volunteer there (I try to get the beer booth whenever possible ;) ).

Oh, "Wha daur meddle wi' me?" is the Scottish rendering of the Latin Nemo me impune lacessit, "No one touches me with impunity", the motto of the Order of the Thistle and three Scottish regiments of the British Army. I reckon it's Scottish for "Don't mess with me!" ;)

(Scrooge should have inscribed that on his money bin. :) )

Here's a photo I took from our last Games. I was working one of the tables in our "tea room" booth, and thought it'd be cute to snap a photo of one of my LTo$ books next to a tray of scones. (Scrooge wanted to come to the Games too! XD)

I thought you stated that you live in Southern California!!! That shows us how very big California is. I'd be a lot more likely to meet you if you lived in Nordcap, Norway or Slovenia than Bakersfield. I'd say that is more, Central California. No, I never get to any of the Comic Cons in San Diego, but I have gone to some in The Netherlands, Denmark and Germany. I never go to San Diego, either. I'm always in Europe during late Spring/Summer/early Autumn. Santa Ana is quite far for me, too.

Nice touch to have scones at your table. A Robbie Burns supper in Bakersfield!!! Strange place to find Scots! Highland games! Reminds me of the Tony Strobl story about Scrooge's nephew, Wee Angus (and cousin Slye McDuck).
It technically is in the Central part of the state, but somehow Bakersfield is also considered part of Southern CA---when Disneyland has those "Southern California Discount Passes" people from Bakersfield can get them, too. :) So I always say I'm from Southern Cali---maybe I should start saying Southern-Central California, hah? :)

I've never been to Norway either; and since I have Norwegian ancestors, shame on me. :P But you'd be amazed how many Scots and Irish are in Bakersfield! :) Though I'm sure there are way more of them in the Southland. But yes, we've had our Burns Nicht for years. I haven't been to one for a long time, but I go whenever I can. We also have Guy Fawkes Night and Kirkin' o' the Tartan every November.

I don't think I've ever read that Tony Strobl story about Scrooge's nephew and cousin, though---sounds interesting! :)

Some of my favorite Disney characters are Brer Rabbit, José Carioca, Darkwing Duck, pretty much any character with a long snout and lots of teeth, and ofcourse Donald, who has been my favorite since I was a little toddler.
