Hello! Since i've been making myself a pest over the past few days, I suppose i ought to introduce myself.
I'm Thom Pratt, but i go by "Kneon Transitt" for my comics work.
I live in America. Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to be exact... close to Pittsburgh. It's a small town but we have a world famous groundhog. (now's the part where you all tell me you've never heard of him -- ha!)
My wife and I worked as a freelance colorists for Gemstone from 2005-2008ish. My day job is rather dull, and involves the government, guerilla marketing, and large corporations of questionable ethics. Shh! So the odd comic book job is an escape for me.
Growing up in the 1980s, my childhood memories of the Ducks were from DuckTales and Darkwing Duck. I'm embarrassed to say that I'd barely read Disney comics until I started working as a colorist for Gemstone in 2005.
Why? Well... there really WEREN'T any. I vaguely remember seeing some Disney Comics in the early 1990s based on Disney Afternoon shows, but I had no clue as to the rich history of Disney comics or their popularity overseas. I was a young American comic book geek. I read X-Men and Spiderman.
But I've been making up for lost time over the past few years... and I'm smitten. My dream someday is to draw one or two Mickey stories for someone, somewhere... then to talk some publisher into a Duckwing Duck reboot. ;)
Ah, to dream...
Aside from Disney, I'm a huge fan of Transformers and anime.

Revival, yes. Reboot, no thanks. I don't want all those great Darkwing stories to never have happened.
And I'm sooooo tired of seeing that Punxsutawney groundhog paraded around on the news every year. He doesn't *actually* forecast the weather, you know. Please tell your mayor to leave that groundhog alone.
Hope I don't come across as being unbearably grumpy.
And welcome to DCF.

Well, they used to kill him and eat him after his "forecast," so I guess just parading him around isn't quite as bad... ;)
As to Darkwing... yeah, revivial. But something that's accessible to new readers who've never seen the cartoon. Maybe he comes out of retirement... "Darkwing Returns"? ;)

That would be cool to have new Darkwing Duck stories but I don't see it happening because the cartoon has been cancelled since 1995. I do like your idea for futuristic comic book stories. Maybe they should do a tradepaperback reprinting the origin of Darkwing Duck and see if enough viewers like it and if they do they can do more stories with him in it.

Good idea. I'd love to see more Darkwing Duck stuff.

This Indian spam posts are really annoying. Can we block them all, even new accounts?

I am Joel.
I live in Utah. I have been a huge Disney fan forever...admittedly, I am kind of new to the Disney comics... I use to read the old ones my Uncle had...I have collected comic books for 26 years....I just found this wonderful site!
I am really excited for Boom to take over the Disney Franchise.
If any of you have read the Muppets comics you will understand! They are bound to do a great job. Mark Waid is a smart man!
Anyway, I am excited to get to know many of you.

Howdy, bamm!
Waid is actually one of my favorite writers in comics.
It's just that as a former Gemstone freelancer, I'm kind of scratching my head at what they're planning on doing with the license now. (And secretly jealous I'm not involved this time... hee!)
Wait and see...?

Hiya Kneon! I loved your coloring on the books BTW! I think you were far and away one of the best colorists on Gemstone's line. Shame you didn't get used more.
You know - I never indtroduced myself here as long as I've lurked.
My name is Jonathan Gray. Currently one of the many backup artists on Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog. Been a Mouse afficianado for years. The Disney stuff is what led me into comics in general. Excited for the Boom stuff. My work for Gemstone included dialogue work since new stories were not available at the time and I was not available to draw material - but I still very much wanted to be involved.
My work for Gemstone included:
* A complete rewrite for "By Twilight's Bite" (originally titled "Bitten by Love" at Egmont) in MMA Pocket #13
* Dialoguing and Americanization work for Romano Scarpa's stories including "The Great Gawrsh-Durn Champion" (WDC&S 681), and "The Sacred Spring of Seasons Past" (WDC&S 695-696)
* And had it continued you also would have eventually seen another Scarpa dialogue/amercanization done by me: Mickey Mouse and the Chirikawa Necklace - one that I was REALLY proud of - that would have seen print in the Mickey Mouse Treasures TPB. Alas, not sure what - if anything - will become of it now. Time will tell I suppose. =|
EDITE: As a sidenote, I will KILL to draw and write a Darkwing Duck story of my own someday. Maybe we can pester Boom enough to revive the character. Hahaha!

Thanks Kneon!
It is understandable a bit of the angst, waiting to see what happens!
I hope they find a way to keep printing the older stuff. There is tons out there I would love to read yet!
Cool stuff!
Hey WB, do you do any commission stuff?

Howdy, WB! Thanks for the kind words. I had a lot of fun on the Disney stuff, but yeah... I was the noob and the more experienced colorists seemed to get more gigs. That's the way it usually works, y'know?
You're not too shabby at drawing the 'Hog yourself. ;)
Darkwing Duck: We need to start a DW fan club. I don't think Boom's license included the Disney Afternoon characters (but then again Gemstone had Launchpad McQuack in a few stories...?) but who knows. Would be awesome...
