I really hope William Van Horn become more popular.

In every Disney forum around the world everybody is talking about Rosa, Rosa and Rosa.
I cannot believe that only few people are interested in Bill´s work. And so I wish our fansite will help to realize that Van Horn is a good artist too.

In December, an exhibition of artwork dedicated to Carl Barks will open at the Galleria dell?Arco in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy.

I've never liked van Horn, mostly because of his style. But lately, after a four year hiatus, when I've reread some stories I've really liked his writing, he's very good at those 10 pagers. I've still some difficulties with his drawings though...

I like William Van Horn's art much, much more than Don Rosa's. Van Horn was an animator, who already had drawn his own comic strip (book) characters in his own style. When he started drawing Donald Duck stories, his characters showed a lot of his own former style, and , so, were off model. His style has been getting closer to the common model style for The Ducks, over the years, and so, I like it more. But I still like the old style of Daan Jippes and Freddy Milton more, and also that of Jan Gulbransson and Ben Verhagen more. I even like Mau Heymans' 1990s style more. But I do enjoy Van Horn's funny stories and I do enjoy his artwork, nevertheless.

I never heard of Sander Gulien. He must be a new artist.

The quality of Gulien's artwork varies, to say the least. He can do some pretty good ducks, but his dog people are mostly very boring and alike and their arms are invariably too short. At their worst, his drawings look clumsy and childlike, like something you might expect in your local school's paper, but certainly not in a decent comic magazine. His inking is stiff and jerky. Don't expect the new Jippes; he's more like the new Strobl.
Lately he's done a series of Beagle Boy one-pagers, which are dull, boring and ugly and that's not only because of the material he had to work with. He simply doesn't know how to create a pleasant-looking page or how to put a joke to paper.
Sander Gulien was always a bit of an ugly duckling. His artwork looked promising, but you knew he wasn't there yet. By now it has been looking promising for almost twenty years. It must be clear that he will never rise to become a swan.
