Love it! Thanks for the interview! I used to be not so much of a Van Horn fan (more the Don Rosa-like), but then I discovered the perfect balance between them! After a difficult, serious Don Rosa story, you pick a Van Horn to put something light on your mind. I really love his kind of slapstick.

I always loved Van Horn's work. Sometime Rosa's work can make Scrooge a little too stand-offish. Van Horn, in my opinion, tends to "humanize" him a bit better.
Having said that, both are masters and I've never understood why it's either/or for so many fans. I like the works of both, though Van Horn is probably under appreciated.

You're not wrong about Rosa's Scrooge, who, while often very well-drawn, can also on occasion descend into something like sociopathy--but it's not a very useful comparison, since Van Horn clearly is much less interested in Scrooge and only rarely uses him for significant roles.

To me, Van Horn's work has a certain classic quality to it. Kind of like the old-time cartoonists who seemed to know this little subtle ways to get a good laugh out of an audience without making the audience seem stupid for laughing.
