Really wish Disney would take a page from Warner and just finish off their various tv series with mod productions.
I find it hard to believe the shows sold so badly when I look at some of the obscure stuff that seems to sell just fine.

Sorry, "made on demand." Warner has released a lot of animated features under their Warner Archive line.
I just find it hard to believe that the titles didn't sell. Disney Afternoon titles were some of the most in-demand series by consumers.
It's especially frustrating when you have 2/3 or 3/4 of a series.

Oh. Yeah, that would be great. I mean it wouldn't be too difficult. You would think that at the very least Scrooge and HD&L making guest appearances in Kingdom Hearts would do at least a little bit to convince them, but no.
Well, I heard from somewhere (which I think I posted this somewhere but oh well) that originally they were on the more expensive side when first released yet no extra goodies for the collectors, but more importantly, they did a horrible job advertising them, and then blamed bad sales for not releasing the rest! What kind of messed up logic is that? Obviously no one knowing about it due to sucky advertising = no one likes it according it Disney.

I'd like to point you all to the Bertel Express special DuckTales issue.
It's in German, but even if you can't read a word it's definitely fun to leaf through it.

Warner seems to be gearing up to continue releasing shows like Tiny Toons and Anamaniacs, so there's a glimmer of hope for Disney to finish their shows as well.
On a side note, I seem to remember a behind the scenes show (or at least segment) from the 80s that featured interviews with the voice cast, etc. It showed how Russi Taylor would often have to talk to herself, Alan Young had to tone down a Scottish accent slightly, etc.
Can't find it, don't know what the segment was part of. Anyone have a clue?

It would be nice to see the rest of DuckTales on DVD, although the later season(s?) don't quite reach the heights of the initial 65 episodes IMHO. The Golden Goose two-parter was a good ep, as was the Tralla La adaption, and Fenton/Gizmoduck had some good eps as well. The less said about Bubba's episodes, the better, however...

That was a pretty common theme in the 80s. A show would debut in syndication, do very well and the studio would produce additional seasons. However, they'd mess with the formula and thus throw off the equation that made the show popular in the first place.

I have to totally disagree. Even though I have to admit, that I've only seen a half dozen out of the sixtyfive first episodes (I grew up with the last season, without even knowing about the existence of more than those thirtyfive epsiodes), it just feels like there's something missing in them. I probably would have enjoyed them more as a little girl than what I did as an adult. And that's another thing, that I keep thinking about those first seasons: They feel way too childish. While I might have missed an early episode here and there, which I would like more than most of the others, the last season beats the earlier seasons heads down. The writing feels more intelligent and interesting, there's way more humor, and Fenton is my favorite character of this show, and he only appears in nineteen episodes, out of which all of them are in the last season. And if I may so, even Bubba had six good episodes! So while those last thirtyfive episodes weren't all equally great (to be honest, I don't even remember them all), I so prefer that season.
