Quote from user: FuriennaScrooge wasn't Donald's great-uncle. One of Scrooge's sisters, Hortensia McDuck, was Donald's mother. So they're just uncle/nephew, not great-uncle/grand-nephew. Huey, Dewie and Louie are his grand-nephews though.
And about Gladstone's relation to Scrooge, that depends on what version you read. You described Don Rosa's view on it. But there are also other takes on it. If we go back to Carl Barks himself, he once had Scrooge describe Gladstone as "my distant nephew", which might suggest, that they're not closely related, but still related. But in a later story, he had Scrooge give Donald and Gladstone equal chances to prove themselves as business men, so he could see whom out of them was best suited to inherit his businesses one day, and that suggests, that he felt just as close to both of them. And I've read at least one story (it was probably Italian, but still), where Gladstone is described as Scrooge's nephew, just like Donald is. His only appearance on "Duck Tales" also suggests, that Gladstone had a pretty close relationship to Scrooge.
Bah, that was just me babbling. But what I was trying to say was, maybe Donald and HDL would have to share the money with other relatives, not just Gladstone Gander, but others too, so they didn't get it all.
I go by Barks (as he essentially "founded" the Duckburg universe). I don't go by Rosa. Hortensia is Rosa's invention. Scrooge is SO much older than Donald, he's a LOT more likely to be his great uncle.
The description I gave of Gladston'e relationship to Scrooge was recounted by Barks in 1949. So, I belive it to be the true one. Scrooge tested Gladstone along with Donald and the latter's nephews, because Donald was frivolous, and would spend and lose all his money, the nephews wer immature, and were also bad risks. Any port in a storm! He would have teste some more if there were any others to test.
There are no other close relatives to share with. If we count Rosa's additions, we should count Van Horn's. Rumpus, his half brother, would likely get ALL Scrooge's money, in USA, IF there were no will. Half-brother is closer than nephew or grand nephew, or grand, grand nephew. Ain't that grand?
But Scrooge probably did have a will, and probably wouldn't leave it to Donald (not a good home for it). He might have left half of it to Huey, Dewey and Louie (in trust till their 21st birthdays), and the other half to his double (who built the Notre Duck Cathedral model from coins) IF he outlasted Scrooge. If not, maybe he left it to the Home For Wayward Billionaires?

Well, we don't have many sources about what happens after Scrooge McDuck died(only 1 comic, 1 Ducktales Episode and a Quack Pack episode hardly explain what happened)
I'm not really a Barkist, but I do like his later work. Through I'm much more of a Quack Pack/Ducktales/1970's-90's comics fan.

I only remember 2 of the cartoon titles;
Ducktales; "Duck to the Future"
Quack Pack;"All Hands on Duck"(showing that Donald was still in the navy when Scrooge died)

I thought Scrooge wasn't referred to in Quack Pack. We actually hear Scrooge has died?!

Ok, maybe not that one. Does have refrences to Ducktales, so I would guess that was the result.

Did you not read anything that I typed earlier? You do realize that you're completely making up fanon and trying to inject it as canon connections when its totally not.

So, um, yeah... I'd like to see Goofy and Max comics stories.
I think it would be an interesting family dynamic that would make for some good tales, and one that's different enough from Big Bad and Lil' Bad Wolf in that Goofy and Max are very different "people" from the wolves.
What teenager can't sympathize with being embarrassed by a "goofy" parent? And wouldn't it be great if the punch lines often revolved around Max finding out that the Goof isn't as dumb as he thinks he is?
Father knows best. ;)

( It'll be black and white, save for the green money shots. ;) )

And what about Max and Gilbert hanging around together (the genius and normal kid). Max could get Gilbert to try normal activities, Gilbert could get Max out of (and, perhaps into) scrapes and dangerous situations.
And what about Mrs. Goof? Goofy's Wife (and father of Goofy's first child (from the late 1940s cartoons, when Goofy was Mr. "Everyman")? Goofy could become an interesting character when we know he was married TWICE, once divorced, and has children from 2 different marriages, while still being the simple goofy (naive) character. Apparently, he's not all that he seemed to be. Maybe he has a hidden past as a mean and dishonest character, too? Maybe he was even a criminal? He's come to Mickey's town to hide out from the law, and he started a new life masquerading as a simpleton. Perhaps he's really a genius. That runs in his family (Gilbert). Maybe Goofy is really an Evil Genius, who is doing his dirty work off camera (not in films or comics)??? Something to think about, eh?
