Quote from user: Roger NorthYou might want to do a seperate thread for those Lars.
Yeah, I suppose I could have, but I suspect Indian Disney comics are only marginally interesting to DCF posters... and besides, they were already discussed in this thread, so I felt it would be best to post that link here.
But if I hear something more interesting about the Indian magazines (locally produced stories, great story selection or something else that would interest non-Indian readers), I'll definitely write about it in a new thread.

Yeah, in this case I 'd venture to say that one could definitely tell a book by its cover. That is one ugly-duck! Sheeesh!!!

I don't know where they have got that cover (it's awfull, allright, but just an example) , but I suppose that the Indian publlisher is going to use the standard Egmont stuff in their books just like any other publisher.

It's been almost a month since the news leaked of the end of another era and all has been quiet on the western front. Some fans still holding out with some hope against all hope. But not a whisper, not a peep from any blog-meister. Apparently Geppi is keeping his designs for continuing the Disney comics dynasty under wraps and top secret?it must be a huge and utopian master plan.
Meanwhile the participation in this forum has sadly taken a nosedive....

That is so true Morequack. I am hoping that Gemstone will continue to publish their Disney Comics but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

Not a lot happening right now. In early June there will be a celebration of Donald Duck's 75th birthday in Oslo, Norway. The Danish Donaldists will meet near the end of July. Sadly, I won't be able to attend this year. Nor will I be able to attend Stripdagen in The Netherlands.
I'm sure that there soon will be announcements about new comics of interest published by some European publishers. But, I don't like the possibility that The Gottfredson Library and Carl Barks Collections may not be printed in English in the next few years. I am very happy with the German and Danish sets. But I'd like one in English and one in Dutch. I hope the will be printed eventually.

I'm sad too, about the bad prospects regarding an English version of Carl Barks and Floyd Gottfredsson Collection. As for the Nordic versions of Carl Barks Samlede Værker, I asked Geoffrey Blum about his "new" working conditions and he told me, he "theoretically" still had another 18 months of writing articles on Calgary Eye-Opener, The Barks Bear Book, the paintings and the animation works..
He was more concerned about the situation for John Clark and David Gerstein, who (this is my interpretation) got sacked immediatly.
I'll cross all crossable bodyparts, in hope for yet another boxset of "unseen" Barks work !!

Quite interesting: in the German monthly comic book Donald Duck Sonderheft was a letter form a reader, who liked to see Barks stories printed in English. And the editor didn't reject that idea. He wants to know the opinion of the other readers!
Perhaps, that's a little hope for us :)
I would be really great if there is any possibility to get the Carl Barks Collection in English.

Maybe they will print The Carl Barks Collection if they can go back to printing the comic books.

The Barks collection is nice for collectors and fans alike, but Barks' stories are already readily available in multitudes of reprints. The Rosa collection seems more sensible and is more appealing to me. But Personally, I'm not really interested in a huge and very expensive encyclopedia that will collect dust on a bookshelf like a trophy. I'm far more interested in new and ongoing Uncle Scrooge stories. Not any of these now seem likely by a U.S. publisher.

...but the works that neither of us has seen in a decent printing could be available i.e. The Bear Book, Calgary Eye-opener etc.
As of CBL and CBLiC, they both were censored, which was not done in CBSV and hopefully not in a new version of Carl Barks Collected Works from whomever eventually will print it !
That'll be the day !

Morequack is right a Don Rosa series is a good idea. I hope Gemstone will be able to go back to publishing their comic books soon.

Don't say I didn't try to do my part to help.
I know I've been among "the missing" lately, but there's been a death in the family and I haven't been able to take part much.
Though on the subject of this thread, I've noticed myself that some of the new comics that were supposed to come in a month ago or more, are still on the back burner. *sigh* For how much longer, only time will tell...
