Egmont already operates a company in U.S.A. Perhaps, if no American franchisee is found by Disney Co., Egmont might test the waters with a joint venture with a US publisher, or perhaps even starting their own US comic book publishing company. But, they would likely want to put their resources behind finding much wider distribution channels than Gemstone and Gladstone had. They probably would also want to tie their marketing activities in with promotion from The Disney Company and related products in other media.

I agree with stavner that it is a good idea. Egmont has been publishing Disney Comics overseas for who knows how many years. It would be cool if they had an American branch as well.

I have all the original US Barks story publications, except "Donald Duck's Atom Bomb" and Donald Duck "Tells About Kites". And, I have Gladstone reprints of those. I have all The Dutch Barks story printings in their various printings. All those comic books are fragile, and will crumble in my lifetime. The hardbound sets on good paper can be read innumerable times, without hurting the condition. They will last in good condition, through the rest of my lifetime.
But, in any case, having Barks stories in all sorts of different formats is not as nice as having it all in one single set, with a table of contents, and articles about the author/artist. The American Carl Barks Library is only black and white. The Carl Barks Collection has fine glossy paper and is printed in very high quality colour. I hope they print it in English or Dutch, so I can get one. I have the one volume from the Danish set which I contributed to (an article on Carl Barks). It is also in the German set, but in a different volume. I will ask Ehapa for that individual German book.
If I get a Dutch set, I can leave it in The Netherlands. Then, I can have a Barks library in North America for when I am there, and one in Europe, for my time there. One shouldn't be without good quality Barks printings for long periods. It is unhealthy!

Roger, Gemstone didn't lose their license -- they dropped it. And BOOM! is still called BOOM! -- KABOOM! is simply one of their imprints.

I'm sorry I did not know that was a spambot. Anyway I thought Boom and Kaboom were the same company. I did not that Kaboom was just an imprint that was a division of Boom.
