I believe that Indian Express was in Bombay (Mumbai). I have the address in my comics, They are from the early 1990s. I am also not sure if India still prints Disney Comics. But, I haven't heard of them folding. David might know if they still operate. But, as I stated above, English language Indian comics would NOT satisfy American Disney Comics fans. Most of the stories were short, and oriented towards the younger portion of the market. Stories were mostly Egmont's Spanish/South American artists.

Gemstone should ask for a bailout...sorry, it had to be said. :(

This is terrible for Gemstone and Disney comics lovers.

Besides a new Barks Library and a Rosa Library, an even more terrible prospect is the lack of a Gottfredson Library when one was finally in the works (albeit partial).

Should Gemstone have to stop publishing Disney comics for one reason or another, it would be great if Egmont could obtain an English-language licence; even if only to produce hardcover collections.
I'm sure a good many people among Egmont's customers would love to be able to read Gottfredson, Barks, Rosa, Van Horn stories ..., in their original language; they could, too, since these are people that are good at foreign languages.

This is a very good idea. I am sure, that if NO one feels the English-speaking market for classic Disney Comics is too small to operate at a profit, and no one wants the franchise. Egmont could step in to make special deals with Disney to produce hard-cover collections. Their cost would be smaller than an American franchisee, as they have already done the work on The Carl Barks collection, and would only have to translate articles that were not written in English originally. They have a bigger staff, to work on a new Gottfredson Library.

I kind of wish I could just ignore what Susan wrote. However I put a lot of faith into what she wrote. Susan has been involved with Disney comics for most of the last 20 years and worked for both Gladstone and Gemstone. It sounds like Steve Geppi owes a *lot* of money to a *lot* of people and organizations. While I of course am almost 100% concerned about the future of Disney comics, Gemstone is one tiny facet of Geppi's overall business empire. I have a feeling that Disney comics are *far* from his biggest conern right now. Hopefully I and Susan are wrong though and Disney comics are back soon. I also hope Susan and other people Geppi owes are paid quickly.
