Quote from user: Robb_KThe more pertinent question is how many of the 5-6,000 Gemstone customers (around The World) will lose their jobs.
I'm sure many already have. Another important question is, how many at Gemstone?

I think we shouldn't paint the sky too dark.
How do you know that many already have lost their jobs?
How do you know that there's no light at the end of the tunnel? Some forecasts show a light in mid-2009 for the US and end-2009 for Europe!
And we should remember that Disney build it's company up in the 30s - the great depression! He painted the sky blue ;)

I don't *know* any of this. I'm simply making an educated guess/assumption. A few layoffs would be too many.
And I have listened to many "experts" almost all of whom conclude that things will get worse before they get better, and that there will not be an economic "upturn" in 2009; hopefully things will start improving in 2010?hopefully.
So, I don't believe that I'm 'painting the sky' any color in particular. I'm simply offering a stark black and white snapshot of reality based on the collective projections of people who supposedly have a better idea that most of us.
But to get more on topic, it would be nice if Gemstone offered an update of some kind on the status of things.

Is that certain?
I know it's back on Amazon, but that doesn't say anything...

That *promise* counts for nothing in this fickle landscape until it is delivered.

I emailed Gemstone yesterday and asked when the next issues of Uncle Scrooge and Comics & Stories would be released. Here is their response.
"We have had to scale back on production due to the economy and hope to resume publishing soon.
Thank you for your patience."
So, hopefully, it is just a minor setback and things will resume to normal, but who knows.

That sounds like "we are done" to me. Scaling back doesn't usually mean cease to publish your main book. There are no English language Disney comics available from any other countries, are there?

There were English language Disney comics printed in U.K and Singapore, but they stopped some years ago. But, there are still English language Disney Comics printed in India (along with Hindi and Gujrati).

Not good at all! "Is Gemstone going out of business?" Looks to me like the writing is on the proverbial wall.

How sad. That's like asking if there are any canned franks & beans in the dusty cupboard after 5-1/2 years of 3 delicious home-cooked meals a day.
